It looks like the old White 1043 Tplink isn't available anymore ?

now it's a different hardware for the 1043 router ?
http://nl.tp-link.com/resources/document/TL-WR1043ND_V2_datasheet.pdf

Can anyone tell me the differences and if the new one is a better buy or not ?

Does it already support DD-wrt ? Also with same dd-wrt image as the white model ?

Thanks in advance

After some search the web:

the new one support wifi up to 450mbit through "Speedboost" instead of 300 mbit wifi on the white model.

Internally the new 1043 is based on a newer faster chipset: QCA9558 which is also used in the latest 5Ghz wifi range routers.
It runs at 700 mhz.

the white model is based on Atheros AR9132 and runs at 400 MHz.

There's also a hardware based NAT build in the new router model.

File sharing through usb port of new router would get higher speeds (9mbit instead of 2,5mbit on older model)

the WR1043NDv2 is the same as aWDR4300 without 5GHz QCA9558 is used for2.4GHz.
It looks like Tplink is converting all their models to 1 standard solution.
The WDR7500 en WDR4900v2 are also build around QCA9558.

Cool

Good stuff. Thanks Monty!

A quick Google search reveals that the QCA9558 chip appears to be a joint venture between Qualcomm and Atheros (mentioned for the fellow Atheros fans).

I also found that the V2 looks to be about $30 more than the V1 (white) 1043. That disappoints me a little. Hell, at that price point, my options are greatly expanded and for me, there really would be no need to go with TP Link at all when I upgrade the last remaining "G" router in my network.

I guess I'll keep an eye on the customer reviews at Amazon to get an idea how this Version 2 compares to version 1. If it's worth the extra dough, I might pick one up anyway.

always check the dd-wrt database to see if your device is supported, for TP-Link just type TP- and all the supported TP-Link routers will be listed

http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

EDIT: corrected URL

I would assume no, not possible at the moment.

I'm guessing that, at the very least, a few modifications would have to be done to a version of the DD-WRT firmware for a different QCA9558 based router so that it could then work on the new 1043ND.

Just a guess tho.

Thanks.

I checked the dd-wrt database, but only appears the revision 1.X, nothing of the 2.X. But i don't know it if the revision 2.1 was compatible with the actual 1.1. Now i know it's not.

I have already finished to buy a TP-LINK 1043nd and I have received the new model v2.x.

The last week, I bought three TP-LINK 1043nd and they was the model v1.x. They works fine with dd-wrt.

I think that they have changed the model now.

I am searching dd-wrt for this new version 2.x, but I don´t find it. I think that It is a too new router, and there aren´t dd-wrt for it. I think that we have to wait a couple of months.

Somebody knows how to upgrade this v2.x with dd-wrt?

thanks
