Hello,
I have been trying to work on this for a few days and it is not working. I have a DSL Modem/Router that I would like to connect to an ASUS RT-AC66U through the WAN port. I have asked my ISP and it looks like port number4 on my modem/router is working in bridge mode (DHCP disabled).
What I am trying to do is to just get the internet signal inside the router through the WAN port but for some reason it is not going in. I have looked on the router GUI and under Setup/Advanced Routing there is a pull down menu at the bottom where i could select the WAN as the interface.
Now, I don´t know how to setup the other fields. How should I setup the following:
Operating Mode?
Metric?
Destination LAN NET?
Subnet Mask?
Gateway?
I'm not sure if I'm reading your post right, do you want both to work as routers? by simply plugging the second router via WAN port and not changing any settings on it, it will be acting as a router and would have a different network/subnet on its LAN ports then would be on the WAN port.
But I'm assuming here you want the second router to be your router and the one supplied by the provider to be just a modem.. if this is the case teh DSL/router/modem needs to be put into Bridge mode those acting just as a modem, and not as a router then you can get the public (internet) IP set on the secondary routers WAN port.
