talking about Dlinks...Does anyone else know if it is compatible with the DI-524

Its a "smaller" looking version of the 624, i dont know what the specs are on either of the two products 624 and 524..

Depends on what you mean by "compatible". I have had WDS and Client Bridge working between WRT54GS (DD-WRT v23sp1) and DI-524 running stock firmware.

No, DD-WRT only supports Broadcom based hardware which those are not. Wink

Both routers are not mentioned in the hwsupport.txt.
I assume the routers are not supported.

DI524 is Atheros AR5005G, and DD-WRT supports Atheros based chipsets (La Fonera working release), the question is just how to try flashing

I'm running a WRT54GS (DD-WRT micro) and a DI-524 rev b.

I would also be very interested in a port of DD-WRT to DLink DI-524.

DLink has released the source code of this router. There is some ongoing discussion about running OpenWrt on this router at http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=37616 and http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=38091.

My understanding is that DI-524 chipset depends on its revision (which can be rev A, B, C or D).

Rev A,C and D were released in USA. Rev B was released on the rest of the world (which is the one I have).

On a post at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14316982 it's said that:

Quote:
Rev. A = Marvell wireless chipset, Rev. C = Atheros wireless chipset

I was not able to confirm the chipset of my DI-524 rev B so far.

Quick note to add, the WBR router have DI PCB in them.

For example, the WBR-1310 Rev B1 is a DI-524 Rev F1
