This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build. (eg: 22118_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build. _________________ [I prefer answere in whole sentence]
Asus RT-N16-tried loading both 2.6 and 3.x versions of 22118 Mega and Big as an upgrade from 2.6 21676.
2.6-successfully loaded but wifi was non functional. the 2.4 ghz LED indicator was not lit and scanning for a signal showed that the SSID wasn;t broadcasting. Happened in rt-n16 mini.trx and mega version. So back to 21676.
3.x-flashing this firmware from webui caused my router to soft brick. Indication was power and Lan LEDs lit but wifi light not. pinging to 192.168.1.1 revealed intermittent responses in groups of 3-1 long response of about 2000 ms followed by 2 short responses of 3 ms. Then periods of no responses. Looks like maybe it was in a boot loop.
What I tried-all failed
upgrading from Asus Firmware to 3.x RT-N16 Mega and Big TRX file
upgrading from 2.6 21676 Mega 3.x RT-N16 Mega and Big TRX file and Bin files with reset and no reset of default settings.
Using Asus Rescue Mode to load 3.x RT-N16 Mega and Big TRX file and Bin files
Pretty much the same issue as what I had trying to use 3.x version of 21676.
Was able to recover back to working firmware using rescue mode.
has anyone successfully gotten a 3.x version to work on an Asus RT-N16? _________________ Please state what make and model router plus the build number and type of DD-WRT you are using. Screen prints and a network diagram can are also helpful. Before you create a new post, use the search function. Chances are your issue has happened to someone else.

21535 with linux 3.9.1 works fine here on my RT-N16. Still a no go for 21676 though (tried it several times with 30/30/30 reset and it soft bricks, couldn't get a debug log though). I wonder what went wrong between those two revisions...
Router : RT-N66U
ISP : Time Warner
Upgrade: dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U --> dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U
Status : Successful web upgrade
Posted: Thu Jul 25, 2013 19:03 Post subject: Wrt320n no 5 Ghz 801.11an wireless
I upgraded my wrt320n from dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_nokaid_small.bin to dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_nokaid_small.bin using webflash, no reset.
The wrt320n was configured as a client bridge using 80211.an and working fine.
After the upgrade, the wrt320n fails to connect to the AP.
After a reboot, the wireless light comes on very briefly and then never illuminates or flickers again.
Reflashing back to 21676 made it work instantly again without any reconfiguration.
