Anyone here using the android app WRTGate? It claims to allow control of the router. I find that using the browser works for some functions, but others will simply not work correctly, particularly saving changes to things. Access Restrictions also run the risk of becoming mixed up (swapped titles, etc.) Finding the mobile app seemed like the right solution, but I haven't been able to make it work.

WRTGate indicates that SSH must be enabled. The Google Play description reads, "Monitor internet traffic and enable/disable internet access of individual devices connected to a DD-WRT router that has SSH enabled."

I found SSH Management on the Administration tab, but it is set to Disable and is grayed. Nothing that I change seems to allow me to change that setting. What am I doing wrong?

you have to enable sshd in services. Secure Shell item is halfway down the page.

if this app would allow me to see the bandwidth utilitazation graphs correctly, that would be great. my built in android chrome browser doesn;t interpret the pages too well.

Forgot about this for awhile. Now have a newer phone. Enabled sshd and installed app. It connects, but there's no screen content. Menu has Preferences and Reconnect. That's it, other than the ads, which work fine of course. Not sure what I'm missing.

The good news is that Chrome for Android allows me to use the web control panel, something that would not work with the stock browser on my old phone, or Dolphin, or Boat browser, or any other alternative browser. So that's a win I guess.

I do not think, that this app is any good. I cannot set an SSH port or use my private key. And also it does not work with my router.

But do not dispair! I am writing an administration app for DD-WRT routers myself at the moment. It will be ready for testing soon and I need people to test the compatibility on different routers. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

Thank you for offering your help. The app is almost ready for some serious testing, I just need to polish the design.

As it is going to be a free limited app with a pro key, I am going to need your google account names to register you for a test license. Can you send me those in a pm?

Yes, I am very sorry to keep you waiting, but you know how it is Razz

I am in the middle of the hot phase of writing my diploma thesis and the app still needs too much coding time that I don't have. It is near completion and I am very happy that you want to test it. I am really curious how my app is doing on different flavors of DD-WRT.

Please have a little more patience as I will let you test the app as soon as possible.

Just found this WRTGate Android App... couldn't find much information on how to use it though!

It is relatively simple if you are stuck...

Link here to enabling Secure shell SSH on your router http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/SSH

On your phone WRTgate app under preferences - you need to put in

1) the router address 192.168.x.x.22 (22 for the default SSH router port)

2) SSH port is listed as 22 (you can change this I believe)

3) SSH Login Name - 'root' by default

4) SSH Password - is your router login password

And as far as I know that is all there is to it...

It took me a couple of goes of saving and 'applying settings' on the web interface to get mine working - but looks like it's running fine now... Very Happy

Thanks to the developers Mr. Green Cool

...For info I am running a Galaxy S4 phone and a Netgear WNDR3700 v1 with DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/14/11) std

I have no trouble accessing DD-WRT though Opera Mobile on Androids, how is this different than accessing though a browser?

can someone share the .apk here? or a link to a direct download? I would like to try it but I dont use google play and everywhere else I find it wants me to jump through hoops.

Im strictly a side-loader on androids.

thanks

Im using this App as well with my WRT54GL. Sometimes, i can connect to the router, but graphs aren't showing anything because of a known bug in the routers v24-firmware:
