I installed dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin which is the latest firmware I found in other directory but still my 3 Terabyte drive was not recognized. Am I missing something?

you need the version with the 3.x kernel for your router

try this directory

I need the _big-nv60k build instead of mega because mega does not have NTFS Support. Is there somewhere I could get that version?

don;t use NTFS, use EXT3 instead. it;s faster and won;t bog down the cpu on your router.

I'm doing this for my father in-law and his drive is already formatted for NTFS so is there a NTFS option?

Large drives >2TB are not supported in current K26 (Linux 2.6.x) builds, they are supported only in current K3 (kernel 3.9.x) builds. But K3 builds for older non ac routers (e.g. E3000, RT-N16, ...)still have a few bugs and not all models work fine. Next public K3 build should work better.

Right now you should only use a K3 build if someone confirmed that it is working fine for your specific model.

P.S. K3 builds for AC (Buffalo D1800H, Asus AC66U, Netgear R6300, WNDR4500) routers are already very stable.

We're on a e3000 router

1) My father in-law only needs very limited functionality openvpn, 3tb drive mounting, samba sharing and port forwarding. A pre-release might be fine
2) Any idea when the public release might be? Are we talking days or weeks?

the mega version includes ntfs support. i dont know who told you anything else.
i tested the k3.x kernel with a 4 tb usb hdd without issues. but best performance can only be archived with native filesystems like ext2 etc.

unless it;s changed in newer builds, I thought that it was Big that only had NTFS support and Mega with only EXT2/3 support.

then again, I think I saw that the newest Big firmware is now a whopping 17 Megabytes now?

Hello all,

I found this thread in looking for the best way to set up my E3000 Router. I'm pretty sure I'm on the Mega build (I was told it was the most robust, it may be one version behind though, I'll update from home when I can double check). I also have a 4tb usb drive (nothing on it, reformatting it is no issue, no preference other than best in your opinions).

I'm basically just looking to set up the OpenVPN server on the router and add some sort of ftp file sharing with my harddrive so I can access it from anywhere over my VPN. I'm not sure if I actually need the FTP or if samba works fine over VPN. I'm not the most advanced router user and I'm new to DDWRT but I really like it so far.

What is the best way to setup a VPN server and have access to the drive?

Thanks,
Troll
