I am trying to choose the right device for a mostly unattended outdoor access point. I will be paying for it out of my own pocket so cost is an issue. I know Ubiquiti products have a good reputation. The Bullet has a good form factor, and presumably is durable in an outdoor situation. I believe that it has 4mb flash, 16 mb of memory, but lots of other candidate devices have 32mb.
I get the impression that Bullet devices were intended as clients and not designed with a large number of wireless devices in mind.
Is a Bullet M2 or M2HP a good choice for an access point serving 6-12 simultaneous users? Is anyone using one in a similar situation?
Has anyone tried the Alfa Tube-U(N) which has a very similar form factor?
Hi,I do run a Bullet M2 in outside weather conditions (-8C Winter / 45C Summer ), and now problem since I have it working. It makes 2 years, and the product is very strong.
You can buy it in confidence, and add DD-WRT to it, you will love it.
I am using it for a link of 13Km LOS, with 8dB power. I also suggest to buy the POE adapter to it, you will love it.
Have fun. Michel _________________ 2x EOC-2160 - AP 2x14dB Yagy to 450m link
