Hey guys,

I have been using the version mentioned earlier in this thread: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/V24-K26/svn15508/dd-wrt.v24-15508_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_m20.bin

on my m20 for about a month and a half with great results. I have been using the built-in PPTP server for VPN access. I am wanting to upgrade to the newest version of the firmware available:

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/V24-K26/svn17990/dd-wrt.v24-17990_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_m20.bin

but, I would really like to see if anyone had successfully flashed this model (m20) with any version of the firmware that includes OpenVPN? I would really prefer the OpenVPN server because its SSL encryption is more robust than the PPTP encryption. I downloaded this version:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/V24-K26/svn17990/dd-wrt.v24-17990_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin

This file is only slightly larger than the m20 firmware, so I'm pretty sure that it will fit, but I don't know if it will actually work. Has anyone successfully flashed the m20 with any version of the DD-WRT firmware that includes the OpenVPN server?

Any replies would be much appreciated!

Hi Guys,

Noob here. I read the peacock thread which warns bigtime about bricking if not following the process exactly. It says to also check the hardware page for the exact device and follow instructions there. Well, the m20 doesn't appear to have a hardware page with anything useful on it. So my question is, what are the exact steps to upgrade the m20 to dd-wrt from Cisco factory firmware? Is it:

1. Perform 30/30/30 hard reset
2. Upgrade to dd-wrt firmware using Cisco web gui. After that succeeds, do you click the continue button if presented with one, or do you just proceed to the next step ie. reset?
3. Cold reset - unplug power for 30 seconds and then plug back in and wait a good 3-5 minutes. This step appears to be essential if upgrading from dd-wrt itself, but is it needed, or could it be harmful if upgrading from factory firmware? This is unclear.
4. Perform another 30/30/30 hard reset and wait a good 5 minutes.

Exact steps for this device would be much appreciated.

I just took the jump and installed. Works good so far.

Did to reset the defaults, and reboot. No Biggie.

I cannot get the openVPN to tork on my Cisco ValetPlus M20 despite everything I've done. Can someone who has successfully configured their M20 post the steps used to get it working.

Thanks

Currently running Mini Build 19711 (Fractal). Everything is perfectly stable and is doing just what I want it to, but I cannot get 40MHz mode to work.

Anyone else getting 40MHz mode to work on their M20 with DD-WRT?

Solved!

I flashed back to official firmware using this tutorial

Might make a nice addition to the Wiki. Very Happy

Is it that you can't get HT40 to work, or is it that your devices adapters can't use HT40?

I'm currently using v24-18946_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_m20.bin found here >> ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/V24-K26/svn18946/ What I would like to know is can I get a standard size build into my m20 or at least something with Hotspot options. I would like to setup a free wifi service for the neighbourhood.

Is v24-18946_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_hotspot.bin a viable option?

I am having the same issue with Open VPN via StrongVPN. Going to re flash and try again.

Looks like a certificate issue.

Why does everyone here use outdated builds? I just flashed with pre SP2 (build 21061), and it's working almost flawlessly. The only problem I had was that the small blue light on top of the WPS button was always on. And it was orange, something I never saw the stock firmware do. (This is probably because of the design of the new Cisco routers - the light in the front center is always on.)

Anyway, here's a link to the firmware I used: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/03-25-2013-r21061/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_m20.bin, and I see there's an even newer build, which I didn't try yet: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/04-01-2013-r21153/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-21153_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_m20.bin.

Which DD-WRT build are you using?
