thanks but according to the e2000 wiki
http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_E2000
IF YOU FLASH A BUILD THAT DOESN'T HAVE e2k-e3k in the NAME OF THE BUILD YOU ARE FLASHING YOU *WILL* BRICK YOUR e2000 ROUTER

non of those files in the link you sent have e2k in the file name so im still as confused as ever.

on the router database it shows
http://dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database
Cisco Linksys E2000/E3000 Firmware - Webflash image dd-wrt.v24-16785_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-e2k-e3k.bin 2011-04-21 7,27 MB

but thats a 2 year old file, seams that everwhere I look I get conflicting information and confusion, even after reading all the help threads and wikis.

originally I just wanted to know how to change the url on the geotool http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=743107#743107 but didnt get anywhere, only replies of read the wiki and read the threads, I could probably fix it if I knew which file to use, now that thread is locked so I cannot get further help there.

can you help me?

thanks

The new-style files have nv60k instead e2k-e3k. Also, http://desipro.de/ddwrt/r20780/usb-ftp-samba3-vpn-nv60k-broadcom.bin should work if you want a Kong build. But first do the initial flashing according to the wiki.

Regardless of your reluctance to do so, you really do NEED to read the four broadcom forum announcements, before you get hit with a brick. They are correct information. Not reading and understanding them will lead to disaster.

OK thanks for the info, from what I can gather from the wiki, and the following link I need to first flash the following file dd-wrt.v24-20675_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-nv60k.bin?

or because I currently have Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/13/11) big do I still need to flash the mini first?

taken from the info here it says first flash the mini
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=569485&highlight=#569485

this is the mini
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/02-11-2013-r20675/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-20675_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-nv60k.bin

this is the big
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/02-11-2013-r20675/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-20675_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin

are these 2 files the correct ones?

thanks

OK maybe the info is already there, I am certainly not at all reluctant to read it and try to understand it but I just got lost and confused on the way, I think for a beginner it can be quite daunting, im sure its much easier for a seasoned DD-WRTer.

all I need to know is which is the latest firmware for my E2000, I currently have Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/13/11) big installed

Ok I have since found the latest file but can I load this without first loading the mini?
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/02-11-2013-r20675/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-20675_NEWD-2_K2.6_big-nv60k.bin

I dont want to brick the router so im asking for a some help here.

thanks

You do not need to flash the mini first. That being said, I have not confirmed which build number is on your router and whether you will be able to directly flash an nv60 build. This is explained in the peacock announcement, note 4, and there is a link there about e3000 and e2000 to a locked thread that you should read.

I gave him the link because he asked kindly and he said he had read everything twice. He felt confident he knew what he was doing. Rolling Eyes

OK a lot of reading to do... so from what I can gather from those threads im now safe to load the latest nv60 build directly, either the big or mega

my current build is DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/13/11) big

E2000 has only 8mb flash.
It seems that big/mega builds past r19519 have grown to big in size.
http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/2660

You would need to use a smaller version.

thanks
