Hi everyone. I have a Linksys E3000 router. I have done quite a bit of searching and read many posts before switching to DD-WRT and so far so good. I am currently on firmware:

dd-wrt.v24-16785_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_nas-e3000

I am looking for the latest stable firmware for my route. My searching lead me to this thread. slobodan suggested using either:

http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/r19545/usb-ftp-samba3-vpn-nv60k-broadcom.bin
OR
http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/r19545/usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv60k-broadcom.bin

Are those suitable firmwares to use? If so, can I upgrade to these directly given the mentioned firmware that I am currently on (given following all upgrading procedures like hard reset)?

Thanks in advanced! Smile

People are divided about this: 14929, 15962 and 16785 seem to be most used builds for an E3000. Personally, I use Kong VPN 20780M and I am happy with it, it all depends upon what you want from it. I have ripped minidlna from a Kong DLNA build, and it runs from a USB hard disk. So, with Kong VPN you may have OpenVPN, Privoxy and miniDLNA available at the same time.

Ok I guess I'll stick with 16785 for now. I might need DLNA later so when I do I'll upgrade to Kong VPN 20780M. Do you have a good working link for the E3000 build? Thanks

Here are links to two firmwares by Kong which work with the E3000:

http://desipro.de/ddwrt/r20780/usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv60k-broadcom.bin

http://desipro.de/ddwrt/r20780/usb-ftp-samba3-vpn-nv60k-broadcom.bin

Easiest way to rip minidlna is flash the DLNA build then cp /usr/sbin/minidlna /mnt and cp /tmp/minidlna.conf /mnt and then flash the VPN build.

As a precaution, USB disks should be removed before flashing.

Brainslayer's 20675 seems to work fine on my E3000.

The wireless is working great and is stable, even with the power cranked up.

Kong's 20575 is also supposed to work well, especially if you want
all the extra goodies and OTRW working well.

Not sure if OTRW is working correctly in BS's 20675 build - don't use OTRW on that.

Kong 20780M works very well, also, including OTRW.

How's your WLAN? With this version, my WLAN is maxed to 54mbit and I have no idea why.. with older versions I get up to 300mbit

It should not go that low. Newer Broadcom drivers default to 144 Mbps instead of 300 Mbps if your neighbors have WiFi connections sharing the same channels as yours. Good neighbor policy according to new certification requirements. These newer Broadcom drivers have been integrated into DD-WRT after a certain build.

I have 144Mbps limitation, how to enable 300Mbs?
