I have a Linksys WRT54g running DD-WRT that I replaced my FIOS provided Actiontec mi424wr rev F with a couple of years back. Reason is I needed to create an additional virtual wireless network, the Actiontec wouldn't do it nor would it allow me to bridge.

I recently decided to upgrade to FIOS Quantam and of course I can't see the additional speed with the Linksys as my primary hardware. VZ sent me an Actiontec mi424wr rev I but if I install it in place of the Linksys of course I cannot have my virtual network anymore.

Has anyone successfully installed DD-WRT on the rev I Actiontec? I'd love to simply use the Rev I but run DD-WRT on it.

Anyone with experience or insights?

Since the source code is GPL Licensed for this gateway, it can be downloaded from the Actiontec website.

Would anyone out there be interested in getting this started? I'm sure a lot of Verizon FiOS users would be highly grateful for the effort here, as the software on the Actiontec is extremely outdated.

Does anyone knows what it runs on? Linux? VxWorks? If it is already based on Linux it cant be too hard to get something working.

The Wiki shows that ppl have successfully flashed a rev C (maybe D?) idk about I, but I was considering the same. Might give this a go this weekend, depending on how I decide to setup my network topology.

OpenWRT should be working on this fairly soon, switch works and an image can be flashed although there are a few things left to fix still.

OpenWRT should support this fairly soon, maybe once it does someone will port DD-WRT.

OpenWRT should have an alpha in the next few weeks, not sure on DD-WRT.

Will http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/MI424WR work on the MI424WR-GEN3I (rev I, I think)?

I don't have FiOS-TV and nor do I plan to get it so I don't care for the MOCA bridge capabilities of the router.

I just have a WAN ethernet cable coming from the ONT into the router.

Thanks!

(The only other router I have is a WRT54GS with the 4/9 DD-WRT build but it doesn't have gigabit lan so...)
