I just bought a Netgear N900 from Costco and found out that it's a R4500 instead of a WNDR4500. Does anybody knows if there are any hardware differences between the two models? There is a way to convert the R4500 into a WNDR4500 by enabling telnet and changing the board ID: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evv2pnfgXy4

I don't want to try the conversion unless I know that they are the same souter. It seems to me that the only difference is that the R4500 can't be updated with new firmware to avoid users bricking their routers and returning them to Costco for a refund, but I may be wrong.

I found an explanation. The R4500 does not support Readyshare Cloud and Apple's Time Machine.
