I seem to have found some solution and I sent it to BrainSlayer for testing and deployment if it is stable enough. For those of you who don't bother trying, do execute on a telnet or ssh console the following and share experience. For me it does work.
Code:
swconfig dev eth1 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev eth1 set apply
It's not work for DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/08/12) std - build 19342. I have TP-Link WR741ND v.4.

wr841nd works with this commands, but each time it is rebooted I have to do it again. Is there any way to save it?

Same here, TP-Link TL-WR841ND v7 running 18777. The provided commands work, but need to be reapplied upon reboot. Is there a way to make this a persistent change?

Does not seem to work on r18777 with a Buffalo WBMR-HP-G300H
I get the following error:
Code:
root@buffalo:~# swconfig dev eth1 set enable_vlan 1
Failed to connect to the switch
