After having some problems with a version of DD-WRT I had flashed onto my WR740N back in March I decided to update to the latest release, and after flashing my router does not boot anymore: the SYS light will blink, then all the LAN lights, then it reboots.

Would it be possible to reflash it using the internal serial connection? What method would I need to use if negative?

Sorry if this was already answered somewhere, and thanks in advance.

Hi danielkza,

Did you recover from that bricking, I have done exactly the same thing. Same lights flashing etc.

instructions for serial recovery:

'tpl' without single quotes to stop boot
setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.1
setenv serverip 192.168.1.2

(tftp server needed
eg. TFTPD32/64 for Windows
computer needs a static IP of 192.168.1.2
set firmware file name to firmware.bin
use the factory-to-ddwrt.bin file)

tftp 0x80800000 firmware.bin

(verify 0x3c0000 at the end of TFTP session and replace below if needed)

erase 0x9f020000 +0x3c0000
cp.b 0x80000000 0x9f020000 0x3c0000
bootm 0x9f020000
