Hello,

Does anyone know if there is / will be dd-wrt support for the Meraki MR16?

The Chipset is Atheros AR7161-BC1A

I've added some internal pics of the AP.

AP details:
http://meraki.com/lib/pdf/meraki_datasheet_MR16.pdf
FCC UDX-60012010

Thanks

What is the marking on the 16-pin serial flash chip with the green dot? MX25L128 ?

Ram chips are 32MByte each so 64KByte in total.

Hello Sash, I'm trying to hunt down more info but I'm finding it hard to find out detailed specs..

Hi LOM, Its MX25L12805DMI-20G (Pic attached) I belive its a 128M-BIT [x 1] CMOS SERIAL FLASH http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/267917/MCNIX/MX25L12805DMI-20G.html

Atheros AR7161, 16MByte flash and 64MByte ram.
Dual radio dual band wifi.
It can be supported by dd-wrt but Brainslayer needs a donated board to do that.

I can not, after reading up on this accesspoint, understand why you would run dd-wrt on it.
It comes with a $650 price tag which is around $500 more than you pay for a soho router with the same hardware specs, the extra $500 is for Meraki's mesh and cloud software features which you would lose if you run dd-wrt on it..

Care to explain?

Hi LOM,

I purchased it cheaply ($40) of eBay without realising it need a $300 subscription to use it! Sad

There seems to be a few cheap units on auction sites at the moment there's one on uk eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meraki-MR16-Cloud-Managed-Wireless-Access-Point-/250873942797?pt=UK_Computing_Networking_SM&hash=item3a6940930d#ht_250wt_294 for $10.

I just wanted to know if I could make use of the hardware with dd-wrt.

I too am searching for a way to run dd-wrt on one of these, I got mine free for watching an hour long demo. I would use their service (free for 3yrs) if after 3yrs there was a way to manage your device. But there are thousands of these out there, that in approx. 2 yrs are going to be faced with replacing with an alt, or ponying up $$$ to continue the cloud service.

Hi if you could donate one MR16 it would greatly appreciated.

I have one unit at home, that is stored and does nothing, given my license is now expire.

Let us know if you have sent one

Thanks for you involvement in dd-wrt

Did this ever get taken care of? I have an MR16 I'd like to get running with DD-WRT. If no one has donated, I may be able to get hold of another. If I do, I'll gladly send it in.
