hallo to the forum
I have problems with buffered JTAG debriking on asus rt-n16. I have tried with buffered and unbuffered Universal TIAO DB/25 interface and with home made resistor cable with no luck at all.
The problem as you can see on cd-prompt here below, is the EJTAG IPMCODE and VERSION that doesn´t appear to be correct!!
I working with a Asus MB, P4 2,4GHzcpu (ECP-DMA3-IRQ7 in BIOS).
The router seem to be bricked, the only second where WAN and LAN1-4 led only are on, is when switching router power on or when inserting activ ethernet cable
I´ll very much appreciate any kind of wise help on topic
After 2 weeks of hard testing, i´m now getting desperate.. i really hope there somebody in the forum that has experienced similar issue before, to possibly help me getting my smail back.. many thanks
Best regards

Perhaps try a different version of tjtag. Note that the commands will be different with a different version.

that version of jtag defaults to /cable:wigggler..

leave that switch out of the command.

leave all switches out and just do a -probeonly and see what you come up with.

or just use serial.. depending on what you did to brick the router, you should only need to erase nvram and force the flash of good firmware. Both can be done with serial.

Thx. for the very fast answering Very Happy
I really don´t know how my router died.. but i´m sure it was me doing something rong when playing with the router software Mad
Couple of weeks a go i did build a serial on Nokia DLR-3P cable, but even here no luck at all. I tried with both HyTerminal and Putty with right setup on COM-port, but i couldn´t get any prompt on the terminal window Confused

As you can see below, in -probeonly i get same result
The chip (broadcom BCM4716)it´s ok, but not the EJTAG IPMCode and Version..
The cd-prompt always freez on "init PrAcc" Exclamation
Best regards

I dunno.. I can't help.

I know Tornado has an RT and I have seen him about it the forums lately. Possibly he will see this thread and chime in.

Yes, I wanted to send him software via e-mail, also make sure nTRST and ground is connected, its not changing from 32 IR to 5 IR

no need for the all the other commands, just -probeonly

See.. That is interesting. Smile

I didn't know nTRST was required. I have used buffered without it (prolly buffered is diff than a real wiggler)

Barry, you are probably right, I do not need it on the e1000v2. just trying to recall from memory. The e1000v2 also must change from 32 IR to 5 IR, I do have that one hooked up

It's very strange.... do you power off/on before issuing the command ? Don't know why its not picking up the initial IR length

Also, give it a sec or 2 when you turn it on, before sending the command

Yea.. you gotta get jtag ready to launch, power up and launch.. sometimes timing is the key.. 1/100'th of a second one way ot the other makes all the diff in the world..

jtag has to hit the processor before it starts processing.

Also, tjtag says VCC connected, you don't have power to VCC do you ? this may need some work, the reading could be wrong
