Quick question... In the router database, there are two 14896 choices. There's Micro Generic, and Micro_OLSRD_Generic. Which should I use? Which have you guys tried?

I used the 14896 generic...works fine besides the problem i stated earlier

Im trying to figure out of 14929 micro generic can be put on this as its still under 2mb and the wiki states any micro generic can be used....that build is very stable but i dont have any means of unbricking it incase it does happen, even tho i think it would be a very slight chance of happening....

Just successfully upgraded to 15962 micro and seems to be running fine @252 mhz... Feels a little more responsive and am getting slightly better throughput with this build....but still sometimes have trouble reaching the webgui....actually most of the time...But this build is probably to the "most stable" upto date build.

Well, I updated to 14896, and it's still unusable. It's only functional for a short while, and I'm not able to configure it in time. When it stops working, the only thing that gets it working is to reset it to factory defaults. I guess I'll probably just flash the original firmware back to it, unless if anyone has any ideas?

please help? i have a wre54g v1 and i have had no problems installing dd-wrt but it has been unstable and i would just like to get back to the stock firmware. i saw in a openwrt forum

"root@Linksys WRE54G:~# wget http://192.168.1.14/new.trx
Connecting to 192.168.1.14[192.168.1.14]:80
new.trx 100% |*****************************| 1559 KB 00:00 ETA
root@Linksys WRE54G:~# mtd -r write new.trx linux
Bad trx header
If this is a firmware in bin format, like some of the
original firmware files are, use following command to convert to trx:
dd if=firmware.bin of=firmware.trx bs=32 skip=1
I tried doing the dd step, but it still gives the same error.... any ideas?
*This is trying to flash the standard linksys firmware LinksysWRE54G_1.06.05-hdr.trx"

but this didn't work till they made this change

"The WRE54G v1 formats have an extra 8 byte header pre-pended (instead of a 32 byte header). Therefore, dd if=firmware.bin of=firmware.trx bs=8 skip=1 .. should work to convert it to TRX format."

if this can help anyone help me get back to stock. thank you in advance for the help.
