After installing TomatoUSB tomato-NDUSB-1.28.8754-Lite on my Linksys WRT610N v1 the router bricked.Just the start is stupid, but wanted to try it out.

Tried to do de 30/30/30 reset but this didn't worked.

After that i've tried to connect to the router following :

Set fixed ip to laptop 192.168.1.10 with 10mb half duplex after that in command:

arp -s 192.168.1.1 aa-bb-cc-dd-ee-ff
ping 192.168.1.1
tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT dd-wrt.v24-14471_NEWD-2_micro-plus.bin

Everything worked, firmware was uploaded but the router still doesn't do anything.

The powerled stays blinking, en sometime usb led is up for a second. Also the lan light is on when cable is connected.

I can ping the router after i've set arp to the right MAC.

After that i've used a script like this :

Code:
@Echo Off
:BEGIN
ping -n 1 -w 1 192.168.1.1
If errorlevel 1 Goto BEGIN
If errorlevel 0 Goto FLASH
Goto END

:FLASH
Echo *** Start Flashing ****
tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put dd-wrt.v24-14471_NEWD-2_micro-plus.bin

:END

After a couple of pings the firmware started uploading, finished but didn't solve the problem.

Last night i've tried to upload dd-wrt mini with the linksys firmware updater, after 3 times it worked

But still the powerled stays blinking.

Hope the solve the problemen without JTAG the router.

Grtz,
Jeroen

I think you no longer need to use micro @ first update according to the wiki. I followed the steps here im using 610n v1 too.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT610N

DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/24/10) mega - build 14144 use this for initial update then after that your free to choose more updated versions

The mega is to big, must be around 3mb otherwise the firmware can't be flashed.

Tried also the original firmware but can't get it flashed.

WHY did you flash MICRO on an N router? And on top of that, you flashed micro PLUS?? Who suggested that you do that?

You may be able to fix it by doing the very dangerous practice of flashing the proper firmware wirelessly, but otherwise you will need a serial cable to fix this mess.

Indeed. No switch drivers for this router in a micro build so the lan ports will not work. But if the power light continues to blink and the radio light doesn't light up, the radio isn't working either.

You can catch it at power up. The 4mb tftp flash limit is a wives tale. I use tftp all the time to flash large builds.

This has been discussed many times but a "neener neener neener" is in order.

When switching from firmware vendors, ALWAYS flash back to stock 1st. All firmware is written to flash from stock to vendor1, or vendor1 to vendor1. Never vendor1 to vendor2.

stock => dd-wrt = good
stock => tomato = good
dd-wrt => dd-wrt = good
tomato => tomato = good
dd-wrt => tomato = BAD
tomato => dd-wrt = BAD

Should be:

tomato => stock => dd-wrt
dd-wrt => stock => tomato

I first tried to flash dd-wrt.v24_mega_generic but get timeout every time i tried.

After that i've tried to flash original firmware from linksys but same problem.

That's why i've tried to flash a smaller file. I've looked for orginal firmware which get close to 3 mb but couldn't find it.

Which small file should i use?

tried all options again, found a good firmware but still doesn't work. Ordered JTAG, so will ask for some help when received it.

Thanks for the help for now.

You are better off with serial. that router has what I call a micro jtag header. It is painful at best but do-able
