a 'ps' on my Linksys E3000 runnign build 16994-big, shows the following 2 processes (password and SSID masked)

Code:
nas -P /tmp/nas.wl1lan.pid -H 34954 -l br0 -i eth2 -A -m 128 -k XXXXXXXXXXXXX -s AAAAAAA -w 4 -g 3600
nas -P /tmp/nas.wl0lan.pid -H 34954 -l br0 -i eth1 -A -m 128 -k YYYYYYYYYYYYYYY -s BBBBBBB -w 4 -g 3600

I don't have the router running as a nas, all sharing services are disabled and the value "nas_enable" in nvram is set to 0

Anyone knows what the 2 "nas" processes do ?

This 'nas' has nothing to do with NAS "network attached storage".

nas (I believe) stands for "network authentication service" it comes from broadcom. Here is a little bit of information on it from my friend google:

http://freewrt.org/trac/wiki/Documentation/Packages/broadcom-nas

Quote:

Usage: nas [options]
-l LAN interface name (for network bridges)
-i Wireless interface name
-k WPA share-key
-m 2 - WPA
4 - PSK
32 - 802.1X
64 - WPA2
66 - WPA WPA2
128 - PSK2
132 - PSK PSK2
-g WPA GTK rotation interval
-h RADIUS server IP address
-r RADIUS secret
-p RADIUS server authentication UDP port
-s SSID
-w 1 - WEP
2 - TKIP
4 - AES
6 - AES+TKIP
-P nas pid file
-I WEP key index
-K WEP share key
-H UDP port on which to listen to requests

So you can relax, nobody is running a hidden NAS drive on your router Smile
