I guess that not too much different from v2, so if I make test build, can you flash it? (And risk of bricking it)

i have a v2.1 and would flash it with a test build

Make sure you have a way of recovering it if things go wrong at 1st. If you have the adapter for serial, you should dump the flash and let eko get a look at it.

If you don't have serial, you have no way of recovering the device.

Just say'in..
don't have serial cable but will take the chance. however, i do need the cable to let eko look at the flash.

Not to sound like a know it all.. But if the 1st build does not work, without serial you have no way to recover.. More important than that, you can not provide Eko with the needed serial output to determine what went wrong and what code change is needed.

I deleted all the captures but going by memory.. There were over 20 test builds (E1000 V2). Of which, all but the last 4 ~ 5 bricked the router.
However, that was uncharted territory. Eko believes only minor tweaking will be necessary to port the V2.1

Serial adapters are cheap (3 ~ 5 bucks). You really need to have one. It's worth it.. Helping & testing is fun Smile
hey barry read my post that said serial cable

I don't understand what you are saying.. yes, you need a serial cable to dump the flash.

My offer still stands to trade someone my V2 (new, in box.. only used for the dd-wrt port, serial header, jtag header & heatsink installed) for a V2.1 (in mint condition).

Or.. Phuz~ ordered a refurb and maybe it will be a 2.1.
my post was serial cable and i didn't want to repeat myself. Anyway, what cable do i need and program(s) or software. I an willing to learn. thank you.

Hello,

I've a E1000 V2.1.

Has someone a test build for me.

I'll try and it's no problem when it brick's.

Thanks!

@k2snauth: You need a serial to ttl adapter, like Nokia CA-42 mobile phone cable. For software you can use puTTY, hiperterminal or others.

You will have to open your router, solder a header to connect serial cable and then get the info Eko need. Once you buy the cable, search the web how to strip it.

I would do this:

1- Open up your router and post pictures from inside
2- Wait for someone to identify where you should put serial header
3- Solder the header and connect cable
4- Fire up puTTY or whatever software you chose
5- Get boot logs and post here

@Eko:

Thanks!

I've upgrade Linksys FW to 2.1.01. The Joke, the FW is only for 2.0 @the Linksys DE HP. There is no V2.1 for choose.

And this upgrade is working.

@Cisco com is E1000 V2.1 available. Seems the same unit.

Linksys should pay money to DD-WRT. It's a shame with this poor Linksys FW. The Linksys units are popular through DD-WRT.

Why isn't the V2.1 not listed in DD-WRT Router Database? That will be nice when this Database is up to date.

Isn't it possible to send new unit-versions to DD-WRT for database update? I only mean that the available versions are listed. That will be better for choosing a working unit.

Thanks again!

Edit: my location: DE

We need to add detection of v2.1 to dd-wrt to work properly. For that I need at least cfe defaults or whole cfe..... don't flash your v2.1 with dd-wrt yet.

Ok... this test build should at least flash and I'm 99% sure it will work. If it does, and you can open dd-wrt GUI, please first thing you do get me cfe backup 192.168.1.1/backup/cfe.bin so I can add proper detection.
Also check if it is maybe already detected as v2.1 (I just guessed some parameters Smile ).

Don't flash any other build to v2.1 !! And don't flash this build to any other router too.

good luck!

Pussy's.. Razz

This build has been posted for almost three hours and not one download..

I was late to work this morning so I could get it tested so eko could post it.

Once this build is flashed to your 2.1, eko needs your cfe.

Don't be scared Smile

@Eko:

Special thanks!

This works @ my Linksys E1000 V2.1

FW is flashed without any problems. Now I'll test the function.

You're great! Thanks!

I'll tell about the function. But I think it's all right.

That (the cfe file) is only a info file for Eko, not the firmware!!!

Hi,

everything works fine!

I've setup Repeater Bridge with vap.

What mode you're prefer for repeating? WDS is a idea but it isn't working with WPA2.

The only way I know -> AP an vap, or?

Thanks again.

Without you, the router isn't helpful!

Edit:
A other question for feature:
Is it now possible to take the FW from E1000 V2 for updates?

Do you happen to need any type of dump to test this? I have this router that i am willing to solder a serial connect to if it helps test the functionality of this router

The help in DD-WRT (WDS)

"WDS is only available in AP mode. Also Wireless encryption WPA2 and Wireless network mode B-Only are not supported under WDS."

Btw. I've connected over WDS with WPA2-AES, WDS Clients are available (-27 and -35 dBm) but no connection (ping). I've only tried WPA2-AES both AP and WAN Disabled, Gateway the first router.
