does this mean that you can never have a wireless interface in vmware, wireless adapters are virtualised also, and appear to be regular ethernet adapters

yes. vmware does not map the physical adapters. you must add own virtual adapters to your configuration which are bridged to the external physical adaper. and these virtual adapters are detected as pcnet32 adapters within vmware _________________ "So you tried to use the computer and it started smoking? how you installed it? I am using with vmware the Damn Small Linux, but when sending the commando dd if=dd-wrt_public.image of=/dev/hda gives the error me that you see in screen
