ok i have been working on a problem here......

I have a wrt300n with Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std

ok on hardline i get 30 meg

but on wifi i can only get MAX 9 meg

1 laptop

its Not my wifi drivers as thay are all up to date.

it IS the Rouer.
as i made a access point usen a Dell Mini 9 and a RTL8191SU USB WiFi adapter and in AP mode NOT Adhoc and i can get speeds of 26 to 29 meg in "G" mode and in "N" mode.

i can even have 3 laptops on it and still get the speeds i shuld get.

so why cant a router do this simple thing?

oh yes its not JUST the wrt300n

the SAME thing the same thing occurs with other routers even my Netgear WGT624.

but this is the speed i get NOW on my netbook as a wireless "N" access point and i have Winamp running on a Acer Aspire D250 at the same time as this test was done and testing on this one Acer aspire 3680 .

But it is your wifi drivers, except not the ones on your pc, but the ones on the router in the dd-wrt firmware. And depending on the revision of the 300N you have you have either a 266 or 300 Mhz router, so your throughput for both the wireless and ethernet aren't that surprising. If you are looking to squeeze a little more speed out of wireless, these are about the only things I can think of. First, you the least amount of encryption as possible. Try a throughput test with no encryption, with wep, with wpa, tkip, wpa aes, and wpa2. You should notice that as you move up to more agressive encryption, your throuput should drop (because the cpu is maxing out). Second, if you ack timing is set to the default of 2000 (meters), lower it to something realistic for your home or business.

Yes i have tryed and was usen a New version of dd-wrt the speeds were the same 9Meg but went back to this one as it would drop wifi every 20 minutes or so.

yes i have tryed playen with the encryption you need at least wpa2 to hookup @300 .

I have even gone WITHOUT encryption at all and the Max is 9Meg

and i have played with the ack timing from 2000 down to 0 .

with no change.

as i said even the Netgear WGT624 with the latest Firmware and the speeds were the same as the Linksys.
9Meg on wifi MAX.

I Even tryed changeing the PCMCIA card in the linksys thinking the card might be on its way out even with the wpc600n card it would Max out at 9Meg.

So i have No Clue what the problem could be
other than port 0 on the switch has an isue???

This might sound like a Dumb Question but....
is there Way of changeing the port that the wifi uses or a way to bridge it to like port 1 ?

Not sure what you mean by the wifi port, if you mean the WAN port, yes you can move the ports around with VLANs.

All kinds of reason from a networking aspect, but a simple breakdown is like so..

Say your wan port 'burns' out and you need to make one of your LAN ports a new WAN port, with VLANs you can do just that.

Performed some wired and wireless testing with my WNDR3300's

I got the same internet speed both wired and wireless

Wireless-N config, laptop has an Intel 5100 AGN card

Download = 22mbps and upload was 3mbps

I got same on wired and wireless connect - 2 different computers

Maybe need to check drivers and configs?

Hrm, you need build 15508 so you can do this from the webgui and not the shell, also, what do you mean by wifi port?
