Hi All,

I am modding my WRT54G-TM with some heatsinks and a fan but i am not sure what to use to attach the heatsinks. I have seen solutions ranging from just straight superglue (i cant see this being truly acceptable thermally) to thermal adhesive. I have looked for the adhesive locally and it doesnt exist unless i order it online where the shipping cost more then the product in most cases.

So my question is what should i use? I am more then happy to pay the extra cash if i need to but if i can do with some artic silver and superglue dots on the corners that works for me since i already have both.

thanks in advance.

Sounds good. I just used some self adhesive RAM heat sinks i got off of Ebay for 4 dollars. But your idea sounds good.

Thermal adhesive is no better than super glue or tape. (read: really bad)

You say thermal adhesive is really bad, and then linked thermal adhesive. I'm having trouble understanding you. Are you linking to what *not* to buy?

For everyone else, what method do you recommend to adhere heatsinks?

I think I meant self adhesive, not thermal adhesive. The actic silver in the link is very good.

Yeah...I use these too...however, as pointed out...I remove the self adhesive tape (use alcohol to remove the glue residue)...then use a good thermal compound adhesive instead...you'll have a much better thermal bond and transfer this way.
