Hi, currently owner of a Belkin F6d6230. As most of us who use their routers know, the units tend to lack that stability you would like. For instance my router reboots its self at random no matter if its bogged down with multiple torrents or w/o any computer/consoles connected via the wireless.
So my hopes are now that the dd-wrt devs would grace us with a fw for this particular unit.

What ive found out so far is that the unit is housing a chipset from broadcom.
Semi-decent pics available via fcc, sorry but I have no camera available at the moment.

FCC: K7SF6D6230V1

Chip:
bcm53115skfbg
bcm43224kmlg
w9751g6ib-25
bcm4718a1kfbg
mx29lv640ebti-70g
lg-4911x-1

Ram-size should be 256Mb if I'm not mistaken.

Cheers!

It is from the series just before the F7D.

It was sold for ~6 month until Belkin ran out of the surplus stock of router boards they used in it.
In same way as they now have ran out of current F7D series router boards and have a new series coming...

I guess we can support it. Firmware format is similar to new belkins we support. Probably with router on my desk it will be simple enough.

Only 1 radio will work for now, until we get new wireless drivers.

If you want to help, check if you can reach cfe recovery GUI, something like it is on f7d3301 or 4301.

Then use it to flash original fw - it should upgrade fine.

If that works - and you're not afraid to brick it - i'll do special fw.

Do you have serial console - that would make things 1000% easier.

Well, the router gave up on me today, so im gonna try and get it replaced with a wndr3700 instead. Keeping my fingers crossed that the shop wont give me a to big of a hassel about the missing boxes.

Thx anyway Eko. =D

Cheer and keep up the great work.

I bought the F6D6230-4 and I'm willing to help with testing.
I managed easily to reach cfe recovery GUI but couldn't flash any firmware because original firmware is not present on Belkin site.
I confirm that the Belkin firmware has many stability issues, whereas DD-WRT is solid as a rock (I've been running it on a Dlink dir-300 for more than a year with no problems at all). I want to compliment you all guys for the great job done.

Hello,
went through all of the steps and here are my findings:

- accessed the CFE Mini GUI easily (used WPS button)
- uploaded this FW http://en-au-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4839
- flashing was successful (take a look at the attached pic - I also added FW info)

Hopefully, you can brew some modification of F7D FW out of this.

Many thanx!

Stock firmware header:

Code:

16 81 00 00 00 F0 34 00 AD AC 12 47 00 00 01 00
1C 00 00 00 C4 09 00 00 00 04 15 00

nvram vars for router detection and gpio's not known so someone who "really need dd-wrt" on his router should open it up and connect a serial console.

Anyone who has tried to telnet into the router when running stock firmware?

Good, the serial port is 3.3V TTL so a standard RS-232 (+- 12V) will not work.
You need a level translator between RS-232 and TTL, or a USB <-> TTL adapter.

First of all tnx to all of you, that are helping me do this. It's not so much that I'm in need of a router, it became a challenge to me and I want to learn how to do this properly. I really have no experience in electronics (soldering etc), but I'm willing to learn. As a matter effect, I have just returned from a store where I bought soldering pen and a multimeter Smile Not to mention I managed to find Nokia CA-42 cable (5-wires) in my rich cable collection.

Oh, and in the process of trying to disassemble the router, brute force had to be used (whole side missing and in beyond fixable state) so it has a better cooling now (missing one whole side/cover Smile) and is ready to be overclocked :)

I'll post some pics of the "guts" later on. There is one connector with four pins, so I presume, this is "the one" (serial). So now I "only" have to identify correct pins, connect the cable and on goes the show.

Can someone (Eko, Lom, ...) please point me in the right direction regarding what am I supposed to do next, when I have succesful connection?

Hi, I've bought this router and since I'm very dissapointed about it, you all are my last hope! Is there any news about the support of DD-WRT for this router?

A couple of days ago pics have been added of the board: http://infodepot.wikia.com/wiki/Belkin_F6D6230-4_v1

Maybe LOM can talk yovo trough the process of getting telnet to work?
