Hi, Im new to all this so please bear with me.

I have a MicraDigital (Belkin) F5D7230-4-E.

There are some Shots of the board here ( http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=64232&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 ).

I am currently trying to connect via the serial which looks to be J3 on the board but I do know know which pin is which.

Can you buys tell me how to figure this out and then how to go about figuring out if DD-WRT is supported/can be supported.

Cheers.

I don't have that router but it won't be hard to figure out.

See the two smt resisters next to the 5 pins? (r544 & r454)

One will be connected to the tx pin, the other to the rx pin. At least one of the pins will be ground. You can find that with an ohm meter (zero ohm to a ground point). One pin will be 3.3v (vcc)

if you have a three wire ttl adapter, no need to worry about vcc.

If it like the linksys models, on pin will show open (n/c).

Linksys pinout is vcc, rx, tx, n/c, gnd.

Thanks for your reply.

It is a max232 converter from ebay ( http://www.virtualvillage.co.uk/max232-rs232-serial-to-ttl-converter-board-pic-003602-008.html?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=shcomp )

Im not sure how to use it but your post has helped me slightly.

what settings would I need for my PC to be able to communicate to the router and is it definately going to be able to communicate?

A router is an electronic device that interconnects two or more computer networks, and selectively interchanges packets of data between them. Each data packet contains address information that a router can use to determine if the source and destination are on the same network, or if the data packet must be transferred from one network to another. When multiple routers are used in a large collection of interconnected networks, the routers exchange information about target system addresses, so that each router can build up a table showing the preferred paths between any two systems on the interconnected networks.
