This hacked up build I'm using is 2.4, you think that's what is the hang up?
While this is pure speculation I could imagine that being the reason for it at least. wlanconfig.new is treebuey's custom build of madwifi's wlanconfig - it was introduced in autoap's latest version. As it's only available in binary form, treebuey is the only person who knows for sure what it's actually doing. I have to admit that I never had to deal with kernel 2.4 before and thus I cannot assist you at all here, I'm sorry. Hope you'll get it sorted out. _________________ 7x La Fonera 2100, 1x NanoStation2 Loco

Althought the WL500W is expensive and it requires you to swap out the card to use the Atheros/Broadcom build it's well worth it to me. I wish I understood more about the madwifi and 2.6 kernel. I'm thinking if Autoap workes on Broadcom 2.4 and also on Atheros 2.6 then it may be easy to convert it to Atheros 2.4 for this custom build. The big benefit here is the firmware I'm working with can be broken down with the Firmware mod kit thus allowing me to put my custom scripts in.
I have no problem paying for the License key on the RouterStation and other products but it's really hurting me by not allowing me to input my custom scrips in there. I could do it from the control panel but it's not the same thing. Hopefully Treebuey will step in and say if this would be an easy fix or not.
Thanks guys...
By the way, Autoap works just fine on the EOC-2610, probably due to it's 2.6 kernel.

treebuey,
Any thoughts on how to make your script work with a 2.4 kernel atheros setup? Would it be possible for you to alter the binary file to make it run? Would a donanation motivate you? I'm not sure how to get in touch with you, but this appears to be the only route I can take to build a custom firmware using atheros. I've pretty much given up on replies from the main people here, so I'm giving it one last go with the WL500W with a swapped out atheros card. Everything works on it right down to autoap. It starts up but errors out on your wlanconfg file and I'm 99% positive its' due to the 2.4 kernel of the broadcom generic atheros build. The 1650, 2610, and Routerstation all run your program and they are all 2.6. The problem is the firmware builder does not work with those firmware and no one will respond to my request of a special paid firmware.
guess this isnt being worked on under the dd-wrt line anymore. This tread seems dead _________________ WRT54G,GS v1.1, V2, V3 V4, V5

I know what to do with a .sh file but the .ipk file looks like some kind of binary?
An ipk basically is a tarball, i.e. you may extract it to see what's in. In order to use AAP (currently v3), just flash Piranha v4 onto your device and you have everything configured.

The project is not at all dead! Just the website (blog, forums, etc) is gone. The repository http://piranha.pwnz.org/pub/ is still there though and just updated with brand new stuff. Will any of that work with a Ubiquiti Picostation2HP (atheros) or is it only for Fonorola?
As you can see at http://piranha.pwnz.org/pub/v4/100813/ (latest v4 snapshot as of writing), Piranha v4 is provided for ALL Atheros devices supported by OpenWrt Backfire 10.03. In other words: yes, it'll work! That said, while it isn't specific to the FON, this is the only device I currently can test myself. Feel free to donate hardware if you'd like to support Piranha/AAP though. _________________ 7x La Fonera 2100, 1x NanoStation2 Loco
