I am so glad to know this. May I know when can we get the bin download from somewhere?

Thanks very much!

I just got your upload. Does it possible to work in X-Wrt's web upload? I am trying now.

I just got a WR941 V2.3 which have 8M flash. But a lot of 941N is using a 4M flash. Will we get some bin which can support 8M flash? I am a new guy for WR941.

the binary supports 8 mb flash. but it has not the features inside which would be possible with 8 mb flash for sure and i dont think that your device has 8 mb flash memory. i know that the bootloader prints out 8 mb flash, but this is a wrong information. the v3 prints the same thing, but the router has just 4 mb flash installed

i dont know if it works with openwrt/x-wrt web upload. from commandline you should be able to flash it to the firmware partition if you use the factory-to-dd-wrt.bin

I know, got it cheap second hand.
The flash is filled up now, can use it as it is but no room for adding additional modules.
No jffs, no USB port = no simple expansion.

I have use this image update my x-wrt WR941N to DD-Wrt. Thanks for your hardwork.

I got telnet information like this.

root@DD-WRT:~# df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 2560 2560 0 100% /
root@DD-WRT:~# cat /proc/partitions
major minor #blocks name

31 0 128 mtdblock0
31 1 3840 mtdblock1
31 2 2560 mtdblock2
31 3 128 mtdblock3
31 4 64 mtdblock4
31 5 64 mtdblock5
31 6 64 mtdblock6
31 7 4096 mtdblock7
root@DD-WRT:~#

BTW, 3 of my notebook can only connect the N wireless with 130M speed only. I am not sure whether I can get 300M speed back like factory firmware.

by setting the correct country and setting channel width to 40 mhz. in addition the correct control channel needs to be selected

I just confirm flash size with check the HW. My V2.3 WR941N is 4MB flash (320S39B) too. It looks the u-boot give out the wrong size to kernel. So we can only HW mod the flash to bigger flash on board. the biggest flash I can find with the same package is a 16MB one.

But I think if we can get USB work then get a usb work outside for program storage is a good idea and can be easier for most of WR941N users.

BTW, I heared USB mod only need to pull the 3 pin (GND/DP/DN) out and use a external 5V powered usb hub then we can get USB HW work. I will try it later time.

I manually change country to China, Wireless Network Mode to NG Mixed. Then Channel Width shows out a 40MHz option out. After I choose the Turbo (40MHz), the connection will be 300MHz. I am not sure about Control Channel option, I leave it with the default upper option.

In the same time if I do not choose AES WPA Algorithms, speed can not be 300Mhz too. TKIP+AES option will lower the speed to 130MHz too.

Because I find by some spec that WR941N is 3T3R one.
So I change TX Antenna Chains from default 1+3 to 1+2+3. I am not sure which one will works better.

Here is my current setting.

The radio chip is an Atheros AR9103 which does 3x3 MIMO so you should use all 3 antennas.

The pcb is already prepared for USB, only the connector is missing.
Not difficult to find that type of USB pcb connector, solder it to the pcb and cut a hole for it in the back panel.
USB support was not included in this test build and the question is if there is enough free flash space for Brainslayer to make a special build with USB support.

this is wrong. its a AR9132 WISOC. its 3x2 (3rx, 2 tx)
so chainmask 1+2+3 for rx and 1+3 for tx is correct (default)

even if it gives the wrong flash size to the kernel it has no influence. the dd-wrt kernel detects the flash size by itself.
