I tried to update to DD-WRT firmware on a Linksys WRT 54G Router V6 and now I cannot access the router. I tried to flash it with VXWorks-killer : WRT54G v5,v5.1,v6 1st. It looked like it worked and then after a hard reset I got a page that said Management Update Page, accept, reset. To be honest I did not research exactly how to pull off this firmware upgrade and this caused me to fail. I did not realize how complex the procedure was and watching 2 Youtube video's just didn't cut it. When I tried to access the router using 192.168.1.1 I wasn't able to. I was reading this article http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...om_a_Bad_Flash however some of the article is just over my head. I was given the router, therefore I am not that worried if it is now unusable. I am just disappointed I could not succeed with the firmware upgrade. I have a flashing power light on my router. How can I know for sure if my router is beyond repair. What are some steps to follow to determine this. What is the best article, link or video explaining how to perform this firmware upgrade. Thanks for any helpful information.

Have you had any success getting your router to work? I am very new to all of this myself but I have had success upgrading my firmware on my WRT54G. I have a v3 though. I ended up having to open up my router and mess with pins 15 and 16 on my intel flash chip while using TFTP to send the most recent linksys firmware to my router. I also followed the hard resets everytime I upgraded the firmware. It seems the more you reset and cycle power to the router the more cooperative it is. After I got the linksys firmware reinstalled, I had to mess around with the different dd-wrt files to get it running on my router. Hope some of this helps. It is frustrating but you just have to keep playing with it. BTW, I don't think your router is a paper weight based on what you said.

It sounds like you're halfway there. The "Management Update Page" sounds like the page described in step 17 of the install instructions. You may be right where you need to be, just not all the way there yet.

I just flashed my v6 a couple days ago. It was my first flash, so I had no prior experience. I just followed the install instructions specified in the router database and everything went as expected.
