If there are a few busted routers about, consider donating one to Tornado so jtag support can be added for the device. _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
Wow, almost like you were waiting for me to make as many mistakes as possible before you chime in. We've been struggling to figure this out for awhile, you are the guru, why are you letting all of us struggle with this? I want to help and all I have to go with is what is written elsewhere with other routers.
I apologize to everyone for my ignorance and misguidance. I will now sit down and shut the hell up.
Even though you were incorrect in a few places, I still personally appreciate your effort.
LOM, be nicer dude. He was just trying to help.

This showed me how to recover mine- still can't seem to get the wireless components back up.
This is what another router looks like that is working- Note connection is wireless- and there is another system attached.

This is what the I see on the 3700

Further investigation shows that if I try to use the Netgear Firmware to try and upload to the DD-WRT image from the GUI- it fails. I get the following yellow LED's on Power, USB, LAN. I will try to TFTP the DD-WRT IMG next to see what I can do from there.

I tftp'ed the factory img to the router- but the dd-wrt img won't boot the router so I restored it back to the 3700 netgear 1.45 img. Still do not have wireless. And can't seem to get a dd-wrt image on it now.
Creating 10 MTD partitions on "ar7100-nor0":

seeing as this is the flash layout for factory firmware, i would have to assume that the mac addresses are in caldata. also the best way to read/write the flash chip would be a spi programer dont waste time jtagging it when you have so few lines going to the flash chip
I was going to purchase a WNR3500L because of its OpenSource FW Support , especially TOMATO . but now I see that there are made some progressions regarding the WNDR3700.
I want to ask if this Router will be fully supportet by DD-WRT or Tomato in future. Now there are some Issues but is there a chance to get a OpenSource FW Support like on the WNR3500L in future? If so I would rather buy a WNDR3700 and wait for its full and stable support in the future. Is there any other Router with the same Atheros Chip the WNDR3700 has and is complete DD-WRT/Tomato compatible?
And one question: In the router-database the specs of the WNDR3700 are RAM: 16MB and Flash: 4MB ? These Specs aren't right, or are they?! I thought it has 64MB Rm and 8 MB Flash like the WNR3500L!
So thank you in advance for helping me out with my questions.

Yes you are correct, 8mb flash 64mb ram, i been also keeping close eye on this thread cause i want to get one of those wndr3700's as well, just want dd-wrt to function more stable on it, once i hear of great success on this unit i most likely will get this or a wrt400n as i want to add an Atheros chip into my network. _________________ Wireless N Config | Linking Routers | DD-WRT Wiki | DD-WRT Builds | Peacock - Broadcom FAQ
DO NOT INSTALL THIS if you expect it to just work perfectly. It is still a Beta and so will have problems and might brick your router. You have been warned.
CURRENTLY WIRELESS DOES NOT WORK VERY WELL, If you mess with the wireless strength or other settings you can destroy the wireless config information and render wireless dead until a fix is discovered. the fix may be very complicated and require special cables.
Current beta (as of this post): Build 14311
Current problems:
Critical:
-Wireless signal is very poor. Seems to be a driver issue. OpenWRT has a very good signal quality though. http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=432045#432045
- raising it in the config does nothing as it reverts it, it is also reported that it will cause the wireless to fail and set all MAC addresses to FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF. BE careful when changing it and be aware that it can cause some issues.
- example: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=431255#431255
- Loss of NVRam info upon flashing and trying to go back to stock firmware. Sometimes it happens. need clarification if anyone has info.
*Info*
- OpenWrt has a Dump of caldata and it shows that is where the mac addresses for the interfaces are along with the other data needed for the interfaces https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=22311&p=3
*Thanks wired57*
-Possible use to re-add the MAC addresses to the wireless and other loss of configs.
I am only collecting what i see other people report, I cannot test anything on my router as it is critical and cannot be down. I dont know everything about this stuff, I am just trying to centralize where the info is kept so we can share the issues and problems we are running into with the developers in a format they can easily use.
If there are errors or you want to add something to the list please PM me with info and i shall.
What are people changing to make the wireless die? So we can make sure to tell people NOT to do it.
well, wifi is dieing anytime someone messes with the caldata from what i can see. i think we need a dump of caldata from a wifi broken unit so we can see whats happening as it's probilly writting to it incorrectly, maybe it write the data backwards froom how it's supposed to be dont know until we see a bad dump and start comparing data
