hi guys, yes its me again, and yep i already read !
A friend of my ask me for help, because he isn´t geting most of a signal, where he is !

Because i already kown that we must be using a ISP router, i can´t change the antena LOL or change anything to bost the wireless.

Now, in the nears shop i can buy a dir 300 rev B1 and put dd-wrt, i am possible will use a omni antena, of 7db or 5db. i am going to use Repeater Bridge mode, to extend the wireless !

Now, the router isn´t far away, but there are some walls. and the dir will be near a windows.

Will it work ? if i buy a 14 db antena will it work also ? on the dir 300 ?

edit: this is to extend wireless from a house to another house, that is a shop LOL
Should be atheros chipset so it could work better ?

Maybe it is better to buy a directional antenna, not a omni one because I tried in a DIR-600 a big 9dbi antenna and the signal repeating another AP is weaker than with the original small 2 dbi one

The dir-600 has 251 mW of power.

Maybe they are designed to use the antenna that comes in the box. I will try next week with a mini yagi antenna from ebay

And you! what can you say about this? what is the max tx power that can give to the antena, this is because i don´t want to pay alot of money for a router plus a new antena! to boost the wireless.
Aren´t we doing something bad, this is because normaly i don´t see on wiki or even googling what i want.

like this part, the max tx power, or better say, the stable Tx power.

thanks for the reply Very Happy

i have found this, but its only for dir 300 rev A1 !
0 dBm (1 mW)
5 dBm (3 mW)
7 dBm (5 mW)
9 dBm (7 mW)
11 dBm (12 mW)
13 dBm (19 mW)
15 dBm (31 mW)
17 dBm (50 mW)
Current Tx-Power=17 dBm (50 mW)
Maximum Power: 50 mW

It´s the samething for rev b1 ? what router should be better ? do not forget that this router is to be used has a repeter of a wireless signal.

DIR-300 is Ralink RT3050 based so the max tx power is 14dBm without antenna.
More info on Ralink site

thanks man ! realy ... so with the antena the max tx power would be even more great ?

So i am possible going to the A1 version or the B1. i just like the B1 because of the extra ram and the CPU. What should be better ?
