So yeah i was reading the instructions

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G_v1.0_%26_1.1

I noticed at the top it says:

WARNING - Do not use V24 RC6.X builds on the WRT v1.X units. There is high probability that you will brick your V1.x unit by installing it..

So on the router database page, it only has the latest v24 files. My question is that, are the above instructions needing an update? or should I be looking for the old vintage v23 firmware being used in the instructions?

You can use v24 as long as the name has VINT in it. You might need a trailed build for initial flashing. See my sig. You will need an eko build.

awesome. i found your link with eko's VINT builds
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/V24_TNG/svn13491-snow/VINT/

but what is a "trailed" build? Confused

and whats the difference between mini, mega, micro, and micro_plus? I'm gonna check the wiki for this.

hmmm.. Catch 22.. Chicken or the egg...

BS does not compile vint builds these days.. However, he does compile the trailed builds & eko does not (except for a couple).. In this case.. a BS build with wrt54g in the file name is needed. However, the radio may not work correctly.

So.. the op needs to flash a BS trailed build and the radio may not work correctly (assuming the router doesn't brick), then he needs to flash an EKO vint build..

Soooooo.. how should the OP proceed? Possibly a V23 build 1st, then an eko vint??

I won't be scared cuz I'll pin short that bitch Razz
