Just completed my first ever attempt at DD-WRT using the dd-wrt.v24_micro_special_generic.bin (20100315 - v.24 pre SP2 special beta - build 14117) http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=68702 on a Linksys WRT54G v5 using these instructions http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_WRT54G_v5.0_%26_5.1_%26_6.0
Worked perfectly!

Part 19 Number 3 of the install instructions says to Select the 12548 Newd_Micro.bin firmware but instead I used the customer version described above.

Note: If the Shop had a decent home device with DDWRT pre-installed, I would have bought it.

I've been experiencing to many disconnects using this firmware and have found myself often resetting the power to regain connectivity. I'm still in the default settings or the state after a fresh install and haven't made any changes thus far.

I'm a bit disappointed but have decided not to continue with DDWRT. I do have other routers I could try but out of frustration, I ended up buying a Cisco ASA 5505 with a pretty mean license and am moving in that direction.
