Hey everyone,

I would like to install a serial port on my wndr3300 so I could really test out dd-wrt. I want the serial port just encase I really brick the darn thing. I read the wndr3300 wiki and looked at the pictures. I just have a couple of questions before I install my serial port.

can anybody recommend rs232 to TTL converter parts? I would like to stick with a serial port and not with a usb end.

what type of serial cable will I need to connect my PC to the serial port of the wndr3300 (null modem, etc).

is this a definite soldering job? Or can I buy a adapter pin out to connect to the board?

When I go to set the wires on the board do I need to cross the TX and RX or do I just match up 1 to 1?

any help is appreicated, thanks

Thank you, but most the credit goes to the user's and Guru's of this board. I just collect all the info, add my 2 cents and there you have it.

Thanks DHC_DarkShadow for the Pics

have you install a serial port on your wndr3300?

do you need to cross the Tx and Rx wires like you do with ethernet? Or do I just matchup Tx with Tx and Rx with Rx?

Thats right on spot for me. Have bought a CA-42 USB data cable for less than 4$ on e-bay.

I think so, it won't hurt if you get them backwards, you just won't get any data. If it doen't work just swap'em.
