Hello,

I bought a TP-Link WR1043ND and flash it with the latest version of DD-WRT available (r13972).

I had the following problems:

1) If I change the router's default address from 192.168.1.1 to anything else (ie: 192.168.0.1) , after reboot, the web gui won't work correctly,ie. no further configuration is accepted.

2) The radio transmit power doesn't seem to be set or reported correctly. I've set the router to work in WDS mode and, even in close range, tx and rx rates are very low (under 50Mbps). Much lower than expected and lower than my VigorAP700, which has only 2 antennas. (edit: 2010-03-10) Transmission range is much shorter too.

Hi, I have used OpenWRT for a day but with only 100KBps download speed and 5KBps upload speed
originally it was 1000KBps and 50KBps

I have successfully reverted to original firmware via the instructions they have posted on their wiki..

So 1 question, can DD WRT revert to original firmware in the same way if i don't like it? Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Thanks in Advance Smile

I think we can change the firmware from dd-wrt to openwrt. so that we can revert to the original firmware. I have read the OpenWRT wiki, but i have no idea to modify the original firmware.
Can you teach me how to do?

*I only tried this on Openwrt*

First download the original firmware.
Then find a hexeditor (I used HxD Hexeditor) to delete the first 0x20200 so that it starts with "01 00 00 00 54 50".

Transfer the file to your router, I put it on a usb and mounted it.
Then you ssh it using putty if you're on windows and type "mtd -e write /mount/image.bin firmware"
Replace "/mount/image.bin" with your file.

Wait for a while and it should be done Smile Cool Cool

Hello,

I'm using v24sp2 std SVN revision 13972.

Wireless Settings are:

Mode: Client
Network: Mixed
Tx Power: 20 dBm
Antenna Gain: 0
Channel Width: Dynamic 20/40Mhz

Tx Antenna Chains: 1+2+3
Rx Antenna Chains: 1+2+3
Radar Scan: Enabled

It has a virtual Interface defined, in AP mode.

Wireless Status reports:

Tx power: 16dBm
Rate: 1 Mb/s
Ack: 64us (85800m)
Encryption: Enabled WPA2 Personal.

The router is 1,5 meters away from my primary router, no obstacles.

Wireless Nodes:
Tx rate: 104M
Rx rate: 24M
Signal: -27
Noise: -95
SNR: 86
Signal Quality: 83%

It doesn't connect at 802.11n rates.

Thank you,

the easy way.. go back to offical firmware, then flash to openwrt
hard way, use mtd
much harder, flash it in u-boot

you can try:
dd if=orig.bin of=tplink.bin skip=257 bs=512
to remove the header, this is from OpenWRT 1043 wiki

Hello,

I've flash back the original firmware sucessfully.

What I did was:

1) I've dl the original fw from TP-Link.

2) Cut-off the first 0x20200 bytes so that the resulting file starts with the hex sequence:
01 00 00 00 54 50 2D

3) I copied the new firmware into a usb pen drive (FAT).

4) Enabled usb in the DD-WRT firmware, with auto-mount.

5) Plugged the usb pen drive into the router and logged in by telnet.

6) Changed to /tmp directory (I'm not sure if this is really necessary).

7. Gave the following command.

mtd -e linux -r write /mnt/<firmwarefilename.bin> linux

where <firmwarefilename.bin> is the filename of the original firware stripped of the 0x20200 first bytes. In my case, I named it 0x20200.bin Smile /mnt is the mount point. My firmware was located on the root directory.

This is what you're going to get:

root@WR1043ND:/tmp# mtd -e linux -r write /mnt/0x20200.bin linux
Unlocking linux ...
Erasing linux ...
Writing from /mnt/0x20200.bin to linux ... [w]

Connection to host lost.

Press any key to continue...

Hi,

There's a new build (r14144).

Unfortunately, this new build doesn't include the TP-Link 1043ND. :(

Are the developers droping support for this router?

Hmm under telnet it shows only WIFI: 1Mbit/ to 54Mbit but my intel client connect without problem on 300Mbit, and i get my fullspeed 90Mbit from wifi so N works but show wrong numbers on telnet.
