After having spent considerable time to investigate the reason why Windows 7 would not update (error code 8024402F) with my router (Linksys WRT54G v.6),I removed the appliance and connected the (Windows)PC directly to the cable modem. It worked.

Now my question: Is there an issue with firmware v24-sp1 micro (07/27/08 ) which prevents the update process? Does my router with the currently firmware require a specific setup since it appears to block only Windows 7 update processes?. The latter is quite interestins since for example the "Windows essential.." antivirus software does not update either but other brands will.

I would appreciate you assistance very much.
Thank you very much for taking time to reply.

Look on your Security page in DD-WRT. You're not filtering ActiveX, are you?

In any case, follow the advice of some of those threads above--clear the boards with a newer build. Not that a 2008 build had a problem with Windows Update that I recall.

You are a gentleman and a scholar. Yes ActiveX was filtered.

Im like your reply. Short and to the point. It works now and I shall not fix what is not broken.

Thanks again.

Well, sorry I do get that. Besides this Windows 7 sticky would not have answered my question.

However thanks for replying.
