I have tried for the last 2 hours to gain access to the boot loader without success. When exactly is one to attempt the opening of the telnet session ? I will tell you what I see when I apply power to the ap. About 2-3 seconds after I apply power the lan light flashes then after another 1-2 seconds the lan light goes on and stays on. At which point should I re-attempt access to the boot loader ?
I have doubled checked ip addressing.(Computer has 192.168.1.11 and ap is 192.168.1.1) Using nmap for confirmation. Does the ecb-3500 allow the use of a serial console cable ? If so which pinout ?

Ok, well try this config, plug the router into a generic switch and the pc into another port on the switch. What this does is increases the speed at which the pc can have access to the router, this config will cut about 1-2 seconds off the network port disconnected->connected state, as the switch will allow the o/s and hardware to hit the router quicker. This is essential as soon as the router gets going you can already be running the `ping' in one command window and running putty in another, as soon as the ping gets throu to the 192.168.1.1 addr you can run putty with the port set to 9000 and you should be right..
