I installed dd-wrt.v24_std_special_generic.bin DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/28/09) std-special
(SVN revision 13525) on my Linksys WRT54G V3 router. It works fine as long as I do not turn on QOS but when I do turn on QOS it locks up - usually within a minute.
I (think) it is what is called the 'current stable release' but can't be completely sure as I do not see any other versions with the title of 'current stable release' (for the special edition).
Could someone suggest what QOS settings I should first try (so it does not lock up)? Then I could gradually add in the other settings until it does lock. What I did not know is which are considered 'primary QOS' settings and which are non-primary settings. Also - perhaps I am using the wrong version and should be using some other version of special edition that is known to be more stable.
What I did is set the following (I left everything else at the default settings):
Uplink to 300 (my cable provider says 'up to 500 kbps')
Downlink to 5,000 (my cable provider says 'up to 7,500 kbps')
In Default Bandwidth level I set it to 300 up and 7,000 down.
In MAC Priority I added two MAC addresses:
One address for: Max up 300 Max down 5,000
The other address for: Max up 100 Max down 2,000
For Ethernet port priority I set one port to bulk & 2M – and left the rest as Premium 100M.

if not I need to know how to find out what is the current stable release as nothing in this section (where the special release is provided) says 'stable release'.
Pure Fact #1 - after you add in or change a QOS setting you will find the CPU usage goes to 100% which results in the router loosing Internet access.
... At least on a Linksys WRT54G version 3 using the above mentioned Special Build it does.
Pure Fact #2 - The solution is to re-boot the router after making changes to QOS. After a re-boot, the router settles down and your Internet access returns.
Pure Fact #3 - It would be of use to provide this 'insider knowledge' to the newbies who don't know these secrets.
Pure Fact #4 - People who help others are better respected than those who do not.
Hello, me too (and with no problem apart some weird things on the web interface: the mac address filter is missing but if you use the direct access to the page is there: I'm not sure if its working or not)

...and from what I saw in another post THAT version (build 10020) from 2.5 years ago is the current non-beta release.
All releases since that time are marked as 'Beta' - meaning:
ya' pays yer money
ya' takes yer chances (with perpetual Beta versions)
and
ya' gets abuse from some of the other people on this thread when
ya' asks a seemingly innocent question.
Now as one would say - go back and read - and look for facts - and non-beta releases of a product that you paid for.
And don't go talking about Tomato here - they don't like it - as it is free.
