How to determine CPU of a router?

Since the Vodafone/Arcor EasyBox 602 is currently unsupported, I opened up mine to see what hardware it runs.

I can identify a number of chips in there - Infineon ISDN chips, RTL 8305 LAN, Ralink RT2860T, 29LV640 Flash (8MB?). The CPU however has a piece of metal glued on top of it as a passive cooler. I'm afraid that ripping it off will break the chip. Is there any way of telling the CPU type without reading what's written on it, maybe by analyzing the firmware .bin?

A bit of carefully applied heat weakened the glue. Smile It's an Infineon Danube chip.
