Hi friends,

I am using DD-WRT on a Netgear WND3300, running great. I have a question and I am a newb. I searched and didn't see anything anywhere on this, so I ask you wise gurus.

First, I have an external HD enclosed in a USB case. I want to be able to attach this (thru some kind of USB to ETHERNET adapter?) to my router running DD-WRT. My router does not have a USB port so there is the problem.

Is there some adapter that I can use to convert from USB to Ethernet? Then, how would I set it up so DD-WRT will recognize this hard drive and make it shareable on my home network? I was hoping to find something like this Addonics NAS adapter: http://www.addonics.com/products/nas/nasu2.asp but it looks like that adapter already has NAS and related software installed. And, it looks like that adapter DOES NOT support SSH, which I need for SSHFS. I guess I'd just be looking for the USB to Ethernet adapter part.

Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated! I have been searching for such a long time and can't find anything.

That adapter is going to run you $50 + shipping.

You're better off getting a new router that already has USB capability.

Then you can just use DD-WRT and add-ons to access an external drive.

Some of the ASUS routers are running around $50-ish.

Yeah... I just recently bought a new router, the one I described above (NetGear WDNR3300) which is running DD-WRT. So buying another new router doesn't seem like a good option right now. My original question still stands as to whether anyone knows of some kind of external USB to Ethernet adapter that I might be able to use?
