I live in Philly and we have free wireless through out the entire city and I was trying to build a router that can track my vehicle and upload the coords to the web. I am trying to connect my GPS to my Fonera via the serial port inside. I need to build a level converter for it. I am unsure if the level converter tutorial http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/LaFonera_Hardware_Serial-Cable-Port#First_.28ugly.29_circuit:

will work. My fonera outputs 3.3v and the GPS wants 5v. Any advice on how to get this going would be helpful.

the two transistor version can work. A simpler and better solution is to use 2 MOSFET transistor, provide that you can also have a 5v power pin from the GPS unit.
