It will take awhile (look at the WRT320N). Oleg is already been on it though for months, and the new Web-GUI of the RT-N16 looks actually user-friendly..

Best thing is tho, that is comes with a serial mount and JTAG, so no need to worry about build testing Smile

Yeah, no dual radio makes it a no go for me too. Does anyway know if they will be making a dual radio version of this router?

The RT-N16 ROG....I'd post a link, but it's all in Chinese..

Now, hold your horses or you may be caught out arguing like an idiot(again Very Happy).

The RT-N16 ROG is vaporware created by the wishful thinking of Asus customers in a couple of internet forums. If you are of a different opinion then please provide a link to where Asus has acknowledged the existence of a RT-N16 ROG or plans to make one.

HI !!

About 2 months ago I was orientating for a replacement for my wrt54gl. I saw a post indicating he had ddwrt running stable on it. I think it was a beta/testversion or something.

Yesterday I've bought a RT-N16 but I cannot find the post with link to the used firmware. :(

Does anybody has ddwrt/beta running on a RT-N16? I hope it will be ready quickly as I am a real fan of ddwrt!

I'm pretty sure no one has dd-wrt working on this router yet. This is a new router that *just* came out. You're probably the first one on these forms that have it. There will be a few more people here that have it probably tomorrow. I'll be one of them, although I personally won't have a lot of time to help in the next week except for 2-3 hours tops. With our help, or when someone that helps with dd-wrt gets it, we'll try to get dd-wrt working on it.. but that could be a while (I'm completely guessing but a week to 3 months or more) before dd-wrt works on the router.

With this router.. I'd guess and say that it won't be extraordinarily long or never for dd-wrt because it already has a form of linux on it.

I will determine tomorrow evening what the outcome will be. First flash with stock asus FW +telnet (provided by Oleg) and back-up CFE, then flash with mini-asus.trx

Got a serial cable already made up...Lets hope it works Surprised

I finally gave in and sent Newegg an email asking if they could tell me when they expected to have more of the router in stock. I'm jealous of all of you that have it or are starting to receive it.

As pointed out in your other thread, this is not a good plan. Especially, as LOM so sagely pointed out, tjtag doesn't work on this chip. So...how are you going to get the CFE back on if it f's up?

I guess if/when jtag works, I say go for it but be prepared to own a expensive brick if things go south. But I'm sure in the future you will be able to recover.

Confused Confused

Sorry, but this is simply bad advice. Just because eventually jtag might works doesn't mean it makes ANY sense to throw dd-wrt on a router that doesn't support it. If/when the developers create a build for this router, then that is the time to test that build.
