by MOD:
as always: FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK. no support for bricked/damaged units with this guide!

you can find all images at downloads/others/redboot_collection

for the most devices go into the images_default here
and select the correct image for your device depending on the platform ram, flashchip and ethernet phy.
so for example for the dir300 choose
redboot_ap61_16M_4M_icplus.rom

then copy this file with scp to your /tmp folder within the device and type
mtd -f write /tmp/redboot_ap61_16M_4M_icplus.rom RedBoot

now its installed and available on next reboot. per default it will still enter redboot for boot procedure. to make it even faster do
nvram set resetbutton_enable=0
nvram commit
and reboot. then redboot will only be started if you trigger the reset button the on backside, otherwise it directly boots dd-wrt

for flashing within redboot you may still use "fis create" but if you use "fis createaccton" it will be 5 - 10 times faster since it uses a special flash access way then which can be found on some accton devices and on the dir300/dir400

for senao use "fis create256" which uses the same trick for senao devices (but in a different way)

but only use it if your device supports it, otherwise it will not work

So you say that once i install this RedBoot, i should also install the latest firmware using "fis createaccton"? Or the currently installed firmware would also be fast?

you can use it on the fon2100 as well.
(the ap51 16mbram 8mb flash kendin image should work, for the 2 ethernet port device use the marvell image)

the latest version i commited to svn does now also support tftp recovery is a much easier way. if you keep the reset button pushed for 6 - 7 seconds a tftp server will start and you can send a dd-wrt webflash image to the device. tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put ....

so no complex telnet at port 9000 etc is required (but still works for special tasks for sure)

Btw, i see a new bootloader too! Why dont you maintain a folder hierarchy for the redboots too?

On one of my DIR 300, still exists the pppoe bug (http://www.shadowandy.net/2007/09/mini-flashing-guide-for-dir-300.htm and others). After a time working, the PPPOE connection doesn't work anymore. If I disconnect the ethernet cable from wan port an reconnmecting again, works (as stated in the previous link). I found a workaround for this problem. The commands
Code:
ifconfig eth0 down
and
Code:
reboot
via ssh make the connection works again, without physical access to the router. If I reboot the router with the eth0 interface up, the PPPOE connection doesn't works.

if you want to look on the bootloader revisions, you have to look into our svn. all historic images are archived and a changelog is provided too

But it's had to differentiate between a DD-WRT commit and a bootloader commit at http://svn.dd-wrt.com:8000/dd-wrt/timeline

The new bootloader image works well (so far at least) on one of my AirLink AR430W routers. WOW does it boot fast!

I used the reboot_ap61_16M_4M_icplus.rom file and the procedure outlined earlier in this thread (copy then mtd -f write).

Now if only I could get client mode working with our 802.1x TTLS. (what do you put into the Phase2 Authentication field?)

I tried on a FON2100F with ddwrt and it works.

after from very fast startup (great work, btw), any other improvements?

thanks

EDIT: spoke too soon. It appears that using the webif Reboot button doesn't work well with the fast Redboot.

The FON2100F reboots fast, however the webif or the commandline doesn't come up at all.
