While your suggestion is the preferred way to handle this (but creates extra work for brainslayer, which is not so great) in the meantime I have posted the md5sum hashes that I get for all the v23 SP1 firmwares on the wiki here:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hashes

If a couple more people were to confirm that they get the same results, then the wiki hashes would provide roughly equivalent assurance that the files you download are not corrupted.

Thank you very much.

Verified Hashes:

    dd-wrt.v23_generic.bin OK
    dd-wrt.v23_mini_generic.bin OK
    dd-wrt.v23_wrt54g.bin OK
    dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gs.bin OK
    dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gsv4.bin OK

For now I only downloaded above files.

Regards,

Taguapire.

Probably not so much work - it's one time work to add few lines to compilation script to calculate MD5 sums. Everything is done on Linux so MD5 tool is already there. So I hope BS will do it at least for official (final) releases.

May be the download manager interface can generate a file in each directory with MD5SUMs, each time that files are updated or uploaded. Or easier just clickin a button on file administration area.

Technology is our friend

Regards,

Oscar.

Are those hashes already obsolete? Unzipping the standard and voip archives and hashing with the windows hasher linked on the site, I get these (repeated calls to the exe removed for clarity):

C:\wrt54g>md5sum.exe dd-wrt.v23_generic.bin
d78f720985549b1531ee41d09f3b8b55 *dd-wrt.v23_generic.bin

bac55724bda30b36088996f91b34f74a *dd-wrt.v23_wrt54g.bin

3b1a114fb0d9408038bfac8eaeb33eac *dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gs.bin

fde12b8c7cdda00d21fbeb5ce1ade11e *dd-wrt.v23_wrt54gsv4.bin

f348ae8beab1f540907d569e87ed5e16 *dd-wrt.v23_voip_generic.bin

bfd43c9cd1f1dd00d85016a31ee2908c *dd-wrt.v23_voip_wrt54g.bin

8982afb3bbadb273e7c5c5953a07f9be *dd-wrt.v23_voip_wrt54gs.bin

a7ad8c84369d11aad5aade315f9c2c78 *dd-wrt.v23_voip_wrt54gsv4.bin

NONE of these match the hashes on the wiki.

Well, I was impatient, so I flashed the voip_generic.bin package anyway with no problems. So I guess this stands as a note that the md5sums in the wiki are apparently incorrect.

I've updated hashes for SP2 on the Wiki. I downloaded and unpacked the files at two different sites, then generated checksums and compared the sets to make sure they matched. Please reply here if there are any discrepancies.

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hashes

However, as the Wiki mentions, I'm just some guy on the internet. It might be more secure if a developer or other designated party signed the checksums with a PGP key or something similar. (example)

Anybody have the MD5 for v23 SP2 Special?
I had opened a new topic on md5 for DD-WRT v23 SP2 Special. But this may be a better place.

I'm not familiar with that version and didn't see it in the downloads. Post a link to it and I'll post the sums I get for it.

The DD-WRT v23 SP2 Special is a modified v23 SP2 that has added the feature to limit individuals daily downloads and other features.
It is sold through "DD-WRT / NewMedia-NET GmbH Online Shop" . So you can't just download it without first paying for it. Thanks for the offer though.
I thought I was to get an email with support info for this version of DD-WRT but nothing has come so far.
