Linksys WRT150Nv1 in Client Bridge Mode

Using v24sp1 generic.

Opening the Web UI using a wired lan connection produces lots (50-100) of connection in the TIME_WAIT state.

Disabled Firewall, Bandwidth monitoring did not fix the problem

Hmmm...just checked mine too...I get a lot of 83.141.4.210 addresses in the Time_Wait state.

nslookup of 83.141.4.210 indicates it is mail.dd-wrt.com

Anyone have an idea of what this is?

[EDIT]
Ah...I think I figured it out...if you are logged into dd-wrt it is a processes to indicate whether you have a new PM or not.

using 11625 on a router reset, I get 135 active connections in the first 2 minutes, with nothing else open other than router status tab to show active connections; all to router port 80.
I logged on to this site to post this message and it shot up to 195 connections but now it is showing 29 as I am about to hit submit???
Timeouts are set to 120s for TCP/UDP and since I added this sentence it is back up to 90 connections and rising again Shocked

i idle around 50 connections with 2 devices connected (as soon as they connect and i check dd-wrt webpage)
typical surfing gets it up to about 50 connections per machine, i want to say that it typically maxes out around 100-150 (have it set to 4096, so i dont think im going to hit that unless i have tons more users or download a linux iso via torrent)

anonymous....what is your tcp/udp timeouts set to.

Default is 3600 for tcp...which is way too long...your router is holding connections for 1 hour after they are no longer used. Change that value to 90-300 and see if your connection count drops down to a reasonable level.

I have 2 computers connected to my host unit and my total connections never go above 300 or so when IM is running at its peak. (torrent users will definitely see more)

I can tell you right now...the devs are not going to spend any time on this....it isn't a real problem...but if you really feel it is...create a TRAC ticket to get there attention.

TCP/UDP timeouts are both set to 90.

Just checked some FAQs on TCP and it explains why TIME_WAITS hang around for 2 mins.

Anyways, it was suprising to see so many.

I suspect there are a large # of connections happening for the HTTP server. Not a big deal.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi all, sorry to bump this very old thread but I was noticing the same issue with my Linksys WRT350-N using build 14896 (have since downgraded to build 14311 but to no avail). Lots of port 80 "TIME_WAIT" connections (all between my main wired computer and the default gateway, 192.168.1.1) that are CONSTANTLY appearing even with TCP/UDP timeouts set to 90 seconds. I believe this issue to be the cause of my very high latency issues (typical pings to any server, I use 8.8.8.8 to test, are about 500ms+ and sometimes upwards of 1000ms!). Oddly enough, if I do a soft reset (30 seconds unplugged) of the router, I will initially get a few solid pings under 20ms, but as soon as my connection exists for about 5 seconds or more I believe these "TIME_WAIT" connections start to appear, and my latency just skyrockets. Impossible to game online at all (especially since I know xBox Live uses port 80 as well) and in general my connection just sucks! What is wrong?

Am I correct in making this association or is my high latency completely unrelated? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

Edit: OK, back again, I seem to have solved the problem by upgrading to build 14929. Wow, can't believe the difference, WiFi and wired working much much better, consistent pings less than 20ms. Can't believe the router database unfortunately sent me to build 14896, I understand that the moderators here cannot change the database. The TIME_WAIT requests are still there and do not seem to be interfering this time so if I have any trouble in the future I will seek out other issues.
