Router is Asus wl500gpv2.DHCP enabled.
If select auto for Transmission Fixed Rate In the status page, the rate of wireless is 36MB or 24MB. But the connection is fine.
If set the Transmission Fixed Rate to 54MB, then I can't get an assigned ip address from the router by wireless or wired.
Reboot the router and connect it via cable can get to the web panel. After rebooted for a minute, it will be very hard to open the web panel again. _________________ [Broadcom]

Perhaps your setup is incapable of ALWAYS transmitting and receiving at 54. Noise, signal loss, encryption etc. will all slow down the speed sometimes, but if you have it set to ONLY use that speed, you might have your hand in the cookie jar.... _________________ Warning: I'm "out of my element!"

Thanks Shawn360 and Donny.
I'll retest it and to confirm this. And will try to upgrade to a new version and try the same settings.
But before report a bug to trac, I want to know more about Transmission Fixed Rate setting. My question is, if set to 'auto', dd-wrt will choose the rate automatically according to what?Maybe it's not a bug, I just should not set it to a fix rate.
Most of the time the rate in the web ui is 36MB, sometime drop to 24MB, will change time to time in several seconds. My laptop is one concrete wall away. The speed in the property of NIC is 54MB,sometime 48MB,changes time to time.
The default tx power of svn 11296 NEWD Mega TNG Eko for wl 500gpv2 is 70. _________________ [Broadcom]

I don't think this is a bug. I believe that if the signal cannot handle the speed, it will drop (based on signal quality) to a speed that it can handle. Auto should optimize the throughput. Obviously, if you turn on a microwave and that causes noise, you can't expect the same ability to transfer. Also, encryption can keep you out of what your router would otherwise be able to do. Getting 36 out of a router listed as 54 mbs is normal. _________________ Warning: I'm "out of my element!"
