Hi all,

I wanted to install dd-wrt firmware on Belkin Pre-N F5D8230-4 (version 1002) router and I installed it using tftp. It was installed without any errors but it bricked the router. I am not able to get IP thru dhcp nor I can ping it using static 192.168.2.x or 192.168.1.x ip address. Also, wireless LED on the router is off.

Btw, I used "dd-wrt.v24_generic_nokaid" to flash this router. I would really appreciate if someone can guide me to unbrick this router.

Thanks

T.

This model will only work if you put Broadcom or Atheros radio mini-pci card inside.

I was able to unbrick this router by installing original belkin firmware after many tries. Btw, can anyone pls tell me which version of dd-wrt will work on this router. I have tried following dd-wrt firmware versions :

- dd-wrt.v23_generic
- dd-wrt.v23_nokaid_generic
- dd-wrt.v24_generic_nokaid rc5
- dd-wrt.v24_std_generic rc5
- dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic rc5

They all install fine. But dhcp doesnt work. If i set ip manually to 192.168.2.x i can ping the router but ttl increases to 100. I cannot access router setup page either.

Any ideas ?

I have the same router. It has the AirGo wireless minipci card in it, which would have to be replaced, the same as the f5d8230-4 v1001ea http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Belkin

I was able to successfully flash dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic to the router using TFTP.

The router will NOT perform DHCP function with dd-wrt installed. Not sure why.

I was however able to manually set my pc to an ip in the same subnet and access the router that way.

Likely because some builds had DHCP bugs, that I believe have been resolved in later builds. Try svn11028.

You do realize that you responded to a thread that was a year old?

Yes i did, however the thread was no less valuable to me as i was installing this morning.
Maybe consider it a bump, for my own sake.

I will take a look at that other svn you mentioned. I did not get very far with compiling the last time i tried though...

Don't give up. It works for me like a charm. I am using dd-wrt.v24_atheros_wifi.bin /I replaced the wifi card with atheros one./

Try ver 24 sp1 first.
I'd suggest full reset before flashing the fw.
1. Power off
2. Press and hold the reset button.
3. Power on and wait about a minute.
4. Release the reset button and wait a minute.
5. Use tftp method to flash the dd-wrt if necessary.

Try to connect your PC to WAN if dhcp doesn't work on LAN side. If that is the case then report it to BS.

Take a look here http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=29520&highlight=

Hope it helps.

just wondering if there is somebody currently working on getting the firmware working with the original airgo minipci card.

(or, if you prefer: bumping old thread because its worth for me).

I have a broadcom mini pci card that came from a buffalo air station that was given to me. If someone can confirm it will work with your router, you can have it.
