Hello,
I've got a SMC7804WBRA -router (Datasheet). I have experienced stability issues with the latest firmware (v0.85) available for this router and this firmware version even contains some major mistakes in the Web-UI. I have contacted SMC several times and requested a new firmware version, which would fix these problems, but I haven't had luck so far.
Because of the problems with SMC's firmware, I got interest towards open source firmwares, such as DD-WRT. I would like to ask that would it be possible to upload DD-WRT or some other firmware to my router?
I am not an expert with the router's hardware, but I have some pictures, which might give a clue.
Here is what I personally know about my router at the moment:
CPU: ARM0403 (Samsung S3C2510A01)
Wireless: Intersil 3880IK MiniPCI chip
SDRAM: 16MB (IC42S16400-7T)
Flash: 2MB (AM29LV160MB-90EI)
It seems that there has been an alternative firmware project regarding to this router: http://linyr.sourceforge.net/

About this project:
This is the Linux for the Ya.com Router project ("linyr")
This project was registered on SourceForge.net on Jan 2, 2005, and is described by the project team as follows:
A replacement firmware distribution for the 3com 3CRADSL72 a.k.a 3com wireless 11g (distributed by Ya.com) and its identical twin, the SMC7804WBRA, with an ucLinux kernel based system and associated system tools.
However, it seemed that this project had died. I managed to find a contact e-mail, from which I got the following response on 30/4/2009.

Hello,
The Linyr project died due to lack of interest. We managed to find a version of Linux that was ported to the CPU and mostly got it to work, but we had no drivers for the ADSL interface. The CPU side data iface is supposedly standard, but the bringup/control interface is totally proprietary and there is no documentation. We never got around to trying to reverse engineer it. Without this, it's kind of useless as an ADSL router
Even though this project sadly died, I am still interested in the possibilities of getting DD-WRT working on the two SMC7804WBRA routers I have.
As far as I know, at least the following devices are pretty much identical:
SMC 7804WBRA
Belkin F5D7630
3Com 3CRADSL72
3Com 3CRWE754G72
