People say TP-Link won't work, but I think it should, I'm waiting for professional opinion on the matter too.

That would be kinda nice since tp-link are very cheap units (mostly because they are chinese, btw) with nice features. As far as i know, all their wireless products use atheros chips but since noone give details and some tests about them they won't be supported.

I can give details aplenty:D
WLAN chip: Atheros AR2317-AC1A
Flash Chip: FLO16AIF(16MB?)
RAM: Elpida S6416AHTA-75-E(64Mbit)
LAN Control: Marvel 88E6060-RCJ1

However, I can't help other than these facts...

I just bought a TP-Link TL-WR642G v3.5 and i saw it's similar to MSI RG60SE and Linksys WRT54Gv7 (AR2317)

TP-LINK Router TL-WR642G v3.5
Board: REV 6.1
WLAN: Atheros AR2318-AC1A
LAN: Marvel 88E6060-RCJ1
RAM 8MB: Elpida S6416AHTA-75-E (64Mbit)
Flash 2MB: Macronix 25L1605AM2C (16Mbit)

Other Technical info. I would like to enjoy DD-WRT.

I read TL-WR642G have 1MB only, and the firmware is 996kB? but Flash Memory is 2MB, what's happening?

TL-WR941ND or TL-WR841ND seem to have more memory. They probably could run dd-wrt.

Flash Chip: FLO16AIF(16MBit) = 2mb

this is not enough for ddwrt right now

Why Linksys WRT54Gv5-8 (they have 2MB Flash and 8MB RAM) run DDWRT micro (1.67MB v24_micro)?. I not lose hope.

Yes, I agree. Both of 32MB of RAM. There is a new thread on the forum for the TL-WR941ND and TL-WR941N which is Atheros AP81 platform router. OpenWRT is working on other AP81 routers.

The TL-WR841ND is older generation than the AP81, but should also work with OpenWRT.

I think just a matter of time until dd-wrt is ported to these. The ath9k driver is improving.
