v24 auf usb stick + lenovo x40

heyho,

habe mir vorhin den x86 build der v24 auf einen 128mb usb stick gespielt und anschliessend versucht mein lenovo x40 laptop damit zu booten.
ich habe die serial- und die vga-version getestet.

dd-wrt_public_vga.image
-----------------------

GRUB lädt ca. 20 sekunden und es ist allerhand output in der konsole zu sehen, bis mehrmals folgende meldung erscheint:
"unable to mount root"
"kernal panic - reboot in 1 second"

(dies ist der ungefähre wortlaut)

dd-wrt_public_serial.image
--------------------------

folgender output:
"GRUB Loading stage1.5"

"GRUB loading, please wait..."

so sieht der bildschirm die ganze zeit aus, ich habe 30 minuten gewartet. der usb-stick blinkt dabei ganz gemütlich vor sich hin, ca. 1x blinken pro 0.5 sekunden.


geflashed habe ich beide images unter einem englischen winxp professional.

kann mir jemand weiterhelfen?
werde nun einen anderen stick probieren und evtl. die primäre festplatte abklemmen.

das wird einfach daran liegen das er, wie es schon schreibt, das root-fs net finden kann. ddwrt ist nicht dafuer gemacht von usb sticks zu laufen.

also ohne weitergehende modifikation wird es nicht von usb stick laufen koennen.
aba hier gibts ne vmware version falls du es testen willst

vermutlich gilt das nicht nur für usb sticks, sondern für jedes usb massenspeichergerät, wie z.b. externe festplatten, oder?

ich wollte es auf einem usb stick installieren, da es für mich die schnellste lösung zu sein schien.
aber nun wurde ich eines besseren belehrt und ich werde einfach eine alte festplatte in das x40 stecken und damit testen. :)

yep, habe die v24 nun auf der festplatte des x40 installiert. klappt wunderbar.

benutz einfach 44pin IDE zu CF Adapter und eine 64mb CF Karte mit dd-wrt und bau die anstatt der festplatte ein ....

gesagt, getan... nur baut sich die wan-verbindung unter dem vm-build leider nicht auf, obwohl eth0 und eth1 vorhanden zu sein scheinen.
