I have a question. What bugs have been resolved with the WRT600N since v24 rc7? v24 is out now and I am contemplating an upgrade...
Ethernet switch doesn't work
300 mbps Wireless-N performs at 100 mbps
Storage Link Unsupported
No FTP Communication to USB hard drive/flash drive
I have a WRT300N V1.1 with Build 3 Firmware, interestingly enough. Do I need to downgrade to a prior build before doing anything or just use the traceroute trick to upgrade? The straight dope would be best.
I am going to give this a try. BrainSlayer are the LAN ports and WAN port working with this new mini file? Also, if the LAN and WAN ports are working in this new mini file will loading the mega version over this mini turn off the LAN ports?

WAN and LAN will work with this very image, if you flash any current different version you will loose that functionality...
You actually didn't have to use that exploit. The file is trailed so the router would have accepted it through the web interface or TFTP. _________________ WRT54G v3 - v24 r14471M NEWD Eko - AP

After using it with my laptops, I am pleased with the performance over the dreaded Linksys firmware.
The only thing I noiced that may need to be updated on future version:
- 20Mhz/40Mhz selection
- A, B, G, N, Mixed mode selection
I think the 20Mhz/40Mhz selection is the most important because that allow us to connect as fast as 270Mbps. Now my connection speed is no different than WRT350N @ 130Mbps.
What is the best TX ouput power for the WRT600N? I have it at 70 and 100 and doesn't seem to make the connection better.

Well, Linksys has it set to 100mW by default, but I used the exploit to change that to84 mW (I'm still running stock firmware, but that will change soon). If 70mW is working for you, then leave it at that. If you're not working over long distances, you might even try 28mW. It'll keep the radio cooler and make it last longer. However, if that makes your performance take a hit, then I'd go back to 70mW. _________________ WRT54G v3 - v24 r14471M NEWD Eko - AP

Ok... cool. Does USB storage work? Can you create shares and stuff like with the stock firmware? How about the 5 Ghz channel? Does it perform at 300 mbps? Can you flash the mega version after the mini version and still have all the features? Is there a supported mega version? :D
Questions, questions, questions.
Sorry, I just tuned in.

According to mega images: Yes / No.
There is not samba/nfsd/upnp/ftp daemon included in DD-WRT right now. You can mount the ext2/3 or vfat devices and install samba etc manually...

Ok... neat. How would I go about installing samba manually? Does a version of samba exist that is compatible with Broadcom architecture?
And... does this version fix the 5 ghz antenna speed issue? Does the nvram stuff need to be saved as a startup script? I am going to take the plunge today if most of this stuff is fixed.
